For all you men out there - Why do you prefer your wife's "natural" look?

My husband has told me for YEARS that he thinks I'm prettier in the morning, before I brush my hair and apply my make up. And my girlfriends say the same thing about their men. But, we women think we are prettier made up and fixed up. What's the deal?

note: Not sure into which category to place this question. Hope it hits the mark.

To me, the application of makeup is a form of surrender to the media. The real reason, whether you know it or not, of a woman putting on makeup is to conform and because those magazines and talk shows have you forgetting how beautiful you really are. To me, just being natural is rebellious, and a rebellious woman, i believe i speak for all men, is sexy ;)

Consider your self lucky that he thinks you look beautiful natural instead of ugly natural! Ha ha. I think it means that he truly loves the real you. He doesn't care if you are fixed up or not but deep down he thinks you are naturally beautiful no matter what. When a man says this i think it means he does truly love you because to them there is nothing like waking up in the morning to a Beautiful face that doesn't need makeup. I have no idea. It could possibly because the bits we really like can't be changed with make-up like her eyes. Don't misunderstand me, I think my wife is very pretty when she is wearing make-up but her eyes are still the same and look prettier without it.

A beautiful woman explained this to me once. She said, "I don't wear makeup to make myself beautiful. I wear makeup as a declaration of war."

A few days later, at a party, she kept floating back and forth in front of me in cherry red lipstick. I got what she meant.
