Weight gain at 29 weeks pregnant?

I'm almost 29 weeks pregnant and despite eating well and exercising a few days per week, I feel and look like a cow. I never had morning sickness, but I have been almost constantly hungry from day 1. I eat very healthy about 90% of the time, but I do enjoy some ice cream or a burger a few times a week. I do NOT eat everything in sight, by any means. My blood pressure is low and I generally feel pretty good, but I'm just getting fatter and fatter --not just the belly, either, but the thighs, the butt...I feel so gross. I've already gained close to 30 pounds, and I have 11+ weeks to go! Has anyone had a similar experience? How much did you gain? Was your baby healthy? Were you able to lose the weight? Please make me feel better!

Thanks! :)

You are worrying WAY too much :) I know it is hard, especially with all these guidelines they put in place these days. You are doing things right...eating right, exercising, and listening to your body when it tells you it wants food. That means you are in a good place about this pregnancy! And yes, you will drop that weight rather quickly, even if you do not choose to breastfeed (although that does help it come off quicker). I am 10 weeks postpartum as of tomorrow and have lost 40 pounds without even tryin at all. I don't exercise and don't really pay attention to what I eat. I know it's not great, but I have not had the time to worry about it. And I am pleased with what has happened in the past ten weeks. My baby was completely healthy, just born a few weeks earlier than planned. I did not gain specific pregnancy weight, but started WAY overweight and could say I gained 65 pounds that I wanted to take off. I still have around 20 pounds to get to my healthy weight. Some women just gain more in pregnancy and some dont. It all is completely up to your body. When I am a normal weight during pregnancy, I tend to still gain around 50 pounds and it falls off pretty quickly too :) Not to worry, once your joyful bundle arrives, you will be so distracted you won't even notice you are dropping weight quicker than you ever thought.

Well I am 32 weeks pregnant. When I was about 27 weeks I started getting very hungry. My pre-pregnancy weight was about 165 I am now 205 I have already gained my 35 pounds. My doctors are not worried about it. Umm I did gain some weight in some unwanted areas like my butt, which is very frustrating and I walk a lot. As far as I know the baby is healthy? Im sorry that I couldnt tell you how much weight I lost.

I was hungry all the time too. I mean ALL THE TIME. And not always did I eat healthy. Sometimes I just ate what I was hungry for, usually it was ice cream :) I gained a lot of weight FAST. It seemed to stay the same from about 31 weeks on. I had my baby on the 5th of Nov. and I've lost all but 5 lbs of it. Don't forget that some of that could be water weight. Yes, my baby was healthy, and I'm sure you have nothing to worry about.

    Congrats and good luck.

hehe with my first I was like "where the hell is this weight coming from"

At 29 weeks with my first I gained 28lbs or so (we do kgs over here). But then for the rest of my pregnancy I only gained approx 13lbs. My son was low birth weight, go figure.

This time, at 27 weeks i've only gained approx 13lbs. I really don't feel like i've done anything differently!

If its any consolation by week 2 i'd lost about 23lbs with my first. A lot of it is water, extra blood and baby.

hello! i am about 6 months pregnant... like 27 weeks...and i gained SO much weight! funny thing is i was drinking juice not realizing that orange juice had so many calories...apparently it is a common mistake because he asked me right away "your not drinking a lot of juice are you?" lol! well anyway i try to stay healthy, but i also like to enjoy a night of eatting what i want...i mean i do what my body tells me if my body is still hungry i eat till im full...its always pretty healthy but you know what i figure if im going to have a giant belly anyway why not gain a little weight. i am going to work my BUTT off after i have her, but i was always in great shape and i know i will loose the weight very quickly. just put your mind to it and diet. it matters like how old you are and how your weight was before, dont get down though as long as your doctor did not get on you about your weight that is what is important! :) trust me looks are out the window!

i am 29 weeks pregnant and i have gained 44 pounds ( around 20 Kg) till date after getting pregnant. I was only 46 kg before getting pregnant. now am 65 kg. Is it Ok or is it over weight? Can any one advise ? I have no other health issues....

30 pounds is not over what you should be. You actually have gained within the normal range for being as far into the pregnancy as you are. Don't worry. You are still healthy. A lot of the weight gain is still due to the baby.

Every woman is able to lose baby weight. It just takes consistent diet and exercise once the baby is born.
