i just got my ears pierced and put 14 gauges in them and so far they seem ok but what do i need to do to keep them clean and let them heal properly in order to avoid an infection?

Sea salt soaks. 1/4 tsp of nonidiozed sea salt (no table salt won't do) per 8 fl oz of water. Warm in a small glass and soak one lobe in it for about 15 minutes. Next throw out the solution, rinse the cup and make a new batch, soak the other ear in that solution for 15 minutes. Do this twice a day. It's crazy easy.
No antibacterial soap, alcohol, peroxide, bactine, iodine, tea tree oil, or anything but the sea salt. These things are inappropriate for a piercing.
As a future reference, let piercings heal before stretching them, you could have done major damage to your piercing.

You need to wait 6 months after the initial piercing before it's safe to stretch. So, unless you were actually pierced at a 14g you need to downsize back to what you were pierced at. Once they heal, you move up ONE size at a time, waiting 4-6 weeks between stretches (6-8 weeks once you get to the larger sizes). Going to fast and not stretching properly can cause serious and permanent disfigurement.
