MY PUPPY?? Home alone!!?
My puppy very new to the world is soo young and, my family and I are going to Calgary tommorrow, there's no one to take care of her and she is too young to stay in a crate for 10 hours. What should I do?? Should I stay home, because we're going my best friends family that I haven't seen in FOREVER, and I'm really excited to see her.
We cant take her to Calgary cause where would she stay?
Calgary is about 24 hours away from us, we couldn't take her with us she'd get car sick!!

Well, there are a few solutions to your dillema. I am a fellow dog-owner and understand your fear. Since it's not very nice to put her in a crate for that long, and she can't have free reign of your house, you can A) Give her some part of the house (e.g. a somewhat small room, that she can roam around in) so she's not trapped, B) Take her to Calgary, if possible, C) Take her to the kennel D) Leave her home with a friend or E) worst case scenario, miss out on your Calgary trip.
I would highly disregard the kennel, unless it's a place that they let her be with other dogs. (PetSmart has a really nice kennel), although most vets provide this service.
Also, on an unrelated note, I hope you have fun seeing your friend!

You can ask a friend or neighbor to come by a couple of times and let him out or he can make the trip with you (if the friends would be willing to have a puppy for the day). 10 hours is longer than even an adult dog should be left in a crate. A doggy day-care is not a good option since she's so young - minimum age would be 16 weeks when she gets her last shots.

Your puppy depends on you to take care of it. You took responsibility for it's life when you got it. This means that if you can't bring the puppy to Calgary with you, you don't get to go either.
Don't leave that puppy alone, think about what could happen.

Remember when you were told that having a puppy is lots of responsibility? Well here it is! You need to either send the puppy to a kennel or stay home. Puppies can't be expected to be locked up more than 2 hours per month of age.

leaving her alone is bad idea. she is young as you said, and is not used to being alone. she needs care and love. so you can bring her with and have her stay around in the house(if that is ok with your friends) and put her in the crate if she is rowdy. do your friends have kids? cuz if they do then the dog would be a great entertainer for them. dogs love children and children love dogs. bring a frisbee or some of her other toys to play with. :)

You choice, let the animal suffer in a crate alone who will have to defecate in the crate which is against her nature or take care of your human friends. You chose the pet and has no one else to see to her needs or see your friends who don't care about the dog you chose to bring into your life.

buy a portable crate and bring her with you with food and water. i highly do not recommend to leave her home alone for that long. if you can not find anyone to help watch her or bring her to a neighbor or friends house than you should bring her to doggy day care.

couldnt you just take her to Calgary and keep her in the crate? she doesnt even have to go in like their house. you could just leave her in the car.

Either find a way to take the dog with you or put her in a doggy home for the duration of your stay. She can't be home alone.
