iPod 'corrupted'. .. how do I fix that?!?!?

I got a new iTouch for christmas and I immedately hooked up it like an hour after I opened it. However now that I have the iTouch I wanted to set up my old iPod (30GB video iPod) up for my little sister. I downloaded all of her music to iTunes but when I went to plug it into my computer to 'sync' it and add the music on there it frozen iTunes for a couple of mintes and then a pop up said that the iPod was corrupted and could be synced.

Can and how do I fix this?

One of my friends told me to reset it by hold

Update:

the old iPod (30GB video) doesnt ever pop up in the left hand column in iTunes for me to restore so I dont know how to do that without it popping up.

restore it. wipe it completely and reset.

safety tip. I suggest using a different pc then the one you sync your touch with.

even if Itunes is authorized and associated to a specific device, why take chances.
