Stop attending Army NG drills?

If I was to stop going to NG drills, what are the consequences?

You will be considered AWOL and could do jail time, be court marshalled and dishonorably discharged.

I don't know about NG, but in the USAR you'll lose rank and after 9 unsats can be discharged. Of course that will negatively affect veteran's benefits, bonuses may be recouped, clearances pulled, and it may come up when applying for employment.

It is not worth it. You can face a Dishonorable Discharge and that alone will tear you a new one on your resume.. From what I also remember from the MEPS briefing on the UCMJ, that could be considered desertion and that's the death penalty right there. Idk if that's only if in a comabt zone or what, though.

Still wouldn't risk it.. not to mention you'd always look at yourself as a coward and other's would as well. Be thankful you're not in 19th century England, people wouldn't even talk to you or do business with you if they knew you deserted or went AWOL.

  • Bad. You know I've been checking out your other Questions and I get the idea that you're thinking about becoming an expatriate or something. If that's so...http://www.villagevoice.com/2004-03-30/news/soldie...

Many many bad things. In other words, don't do it. Your enlistment period is probably going to be ending soon, just stick it out and don't re-enlist. After all, a successful period of Army service is looked upon favorably in later life.

It depends where you are at in your career. Probably just an other than honorable discharge and you may lose some veterans benefits. Oh, and you'll be a massive pussy. Way to go.
