driving back from las vegas?
coming back from las vegas to l.a., before you hit barstow there is a checkpoint that you have to stop at, now how do i get around that so i don't have to sit in traffic for an hour or so

With the budget cuts, that thing has not been staffed for like two years now. It is just an area where you slow down, and cross through the check point.
At most is will take 7-10 minutes with traffic.

Don't worry about it. If you exit before it you can take the sideroad as it follows the freeway until you hit Barstow . .. . but to be honest it really isn't going to save you any time. That checkpoint is almost never staffed. You just have to slow down and whizz through. Plus once through it and into Barstow the freeway opens up to 3 & 4 lanes which is nice so traffic is already moving quicker!

Your talking about the checkpoint in Yerma. To avoid sitting in traffic, go during the daytime or try going during the weekdays. There is no way to go around, you'll just get lost and waste your time. The roads all circle back.

it does not take an hour, ive gone thru it on weekdays and weekends, even after new years.... they just let cars go through rarely do i see them stop ppl. I frequent that area but i could be wrong.

its gna take atleast 4 hours but u can go by the whhooover dam im sure ull see a super star or something problalby the transformers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
