  • Ceiling fan question - redo screws or no?

    I am installing ceiling fans for the first time. We recently bought a new home that came wired for a total of 4 ceiling fans, with proper ceiling fan boxes at each location. However, each box came with only one proper screw (about a size #10 machine screw) and had a cheap lightbulb-fixture held in with about a #8 wood screw to demonstrate that the wiring was done properly to inspectors. Not seeing any issues and it being my first time installing, I installed the first 3 bedroom fans with the wood screw and machine screw provided at each box and inserted them into the proper holes. It was not until I got to the largest fan, a 52" in the living room, that the wood screw would not hold in the box well and I stopped immediately. For those of you with more experience than me -- should I visit my local Home Depot/Lowe's and buy about the same size/length machine screws and redo the first 3 ceiling fans? They are all flush mount types, one has a slight wobble on high speed and another looks sort of lop-sided in the base. Thanks for your suggestions ahead of time. I will definetly be getting another screw for the fan in the living room, it will just be about 1-2 hours of work to go back and redo the other fans if I did.

  • Does anyone have any experiences working for Caesars Entertainment or MGM in Las Vegas?

    Any of either corporations' hotels. As any employee, but even more preferably if it was a seasonal or temporary position, I.e. a lifeguard.

    How was the job, pay, benefits, and basically the employee perspective of it all. Most importantly, did you enjoy your time there? Thanks!

  • Complicated situation - How could I still qualify for scholarships?

    Here's a little background to help understand the situation. Throughout my whole life, my family has been struggling economically and pushing against odds so that one day me and my brothers would be able to earn scholarships/grants and get a college education. My father walked out on us when we were little, and even now we receive food stamps and free school lunch. My older brother is a freshman in college, and is getting a presidential grant covering 90% of his tuition. Part of qualifying for the grant is financial need. I am currently a junior in the best magnet high school in the state, have a good amount of AP classes, and a high class rank. I have been told that I have a fairly good chance at getting a near full-ride scholarship out-of-state in my current situation. I also have a little brother in eighth grade. Here's where it gets tricky: my mother met a man whom she plans to marry, probably near the time when I will go to college. Financially, we will be considered middle-class and not qualify under low-income or poverty for many scholarship/grant criteria. He is a great person, and me and my brothers would love to see them get married. If they do get married, there is no way that college would be affordable, especially out-of-state, without taking student loans for most of the cost of tuition. Is there any way to still qualify for scholarships and grants that require low financial standing if they do marry (i.e. ways to file taxes, exemptions, or other means)? It feels like everything me and my brothers have worked for would somehow be lost if they did marry and we were considered middle-class on paper. Any ideas, suggestions, and takes on this situation would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

  • Help! Cleaning car headlights - where did I go wrong?

    Hello, I recently tried to (unsuccessfully) clean my 2005 Honda Accord's headlights, which looked 'foggy' because of buildup. I followed this video's method exactly;

    http://vehicle-maintenance.wonderhowto.com/how-to/...

    I am pretty experienced with cars and do a lot of work on them myself, but this is the first project I have had a real issue with.

    Do any of you have an idea what I may have done wrong/how to correct the issue or clean the headlights from this point?

    Here are images of the headlights before and after:

  • Does this buffer work right?

    I recently bought a car buffer at a garage sale. I have never used a buffer before and don't know if it works properly. It seems to go up and down a lot, also as much as it does side to side. Is that supposed to happen? It not, will it decrease its efficiency? I tried to clean my car's headlights with it and they came out foggy in the end. I think this may be the reason. Tips, tricks, hints? This is the video I used for instructions; http://vehicle-maintenance.wonderhowto.com/how-to/...

  • Do you have to have a receiver for ceiling speakers?

    I am buying a new house and was wondering if I had to have a home theater receiver in order to put in ceiling speakers. The new house comes pre-wired for ceiling speakers, and installation doesn't seem to be much of a problem. But will it work without one, or do I need to buy one? I am considering putting in two pairs of these speakers: http://www.amazon.com/Pyle-PDIC60-250-Watt-6-5-Inc...

    I know they are on the cheap end, but I know multiple people who have them and they sound phenomenal for the price. If I do need a receiver, do you have any recommendations that are pretty cheap? Money is tight. Thanks in advance!
