Does anyone know this saying/quote?

It's something about being a teacher. It goes: "It's good to be feared. It's better to be loved. But the best is to be respected." That's not the exact saying, and I don't know who said it. I read it in a text book 2 years ago that I don't have anymore and I would like to find it again. Any help out there? Thanx :)

Update:

No, sorry, that's not what I mean :( Anyone else?

To be feared by one's enemies; to be loved by one's people and by other fair-minded folk; to be respected by all.

Sorry I've never heard of it , but it sounds like a pretty true saying .My english teacher always says " you dont have to like me to respect me. You can go home and tell your parents that I'm the worst teacher ever, and I won't care as long as at school you respect me." I don't know about the fear part, but I guess its true also. I know I didn't help much.SORRY.
