Windows Vista - Problem logging on?

Every time I try to log onto my Dell Inspiron 530s (Windows Vista), it tells me that the log on failed, could not log on user profile. I've researched this here on Answers and on Google and though the problem seems fairly common, I'm not seeing a solution that I understand. It's a personal computer and I'm the only user, therefore the only profile. The only buttons available to me on the log on screen are the shut-down in the lower right and the ease of access button on the lower left. So I can't log on as anything else or access anything else, that I know of. Ctrl-Alt-Del doesn't work either. So how do I fix this? Please be specific.

Update:

For the record, I AM the administrator. I'm the only profile on the entire computer...

Are you the administrator? If not, log on as admin, go to Control Panel > User Accounts (or wherever user accts is located) and delete your profile if it's still there and create your profile again. Deleting your profile from user accts does NOT delete your documents/files. They will all still be there.

If your profile IS the admin, then you'd have to override the password. I believe there's a way to do this by using the Windows Vista OS (operating system) reinstall CD. You would boot the PC from the Vista CD and get to a certain part then press a certain key, but I have no idea how to do this with Vista as I haven't had to do it. You may want to search with Google on how to bypass the password using the Vista OS CD.

Or you could always reload the Vista OS but this option would most likely erase your documents/files.
