Would it be more accurate if the shops said "Merry Commerce" instead of Merry Christmas..?

..

..

---> Given the rapidity with which the Christmas trappings have been torn down, even though this is only the fifth day of Christmas (fifth, out of twelve.!).. Already the decorations are but a fleeting memory, and the springtime, and dare I say, Easter goods are now coming on stream....

So much for the spirit of Christmas. (commerce.!).?

How very true, the Christmas message was forgotten long ago and it's all money now.

Most definitely!! And it saddens me when people describe Christmas as being over already, but then again, maybe it's a consequence of being bombarded with it by the shops and media from late September - people are fed up of it already, and want it gone, which is a shame. In my opinion, Christmas is not over until we're into the New Year.

the country is in a serious state at the moment

    so it needs commerce,,

It is not going to right itself

I was in retail management for many years and believe me it is bloody hard work,

and long hours, for little reward

Of course. It's become a commercial money trap with too many expectations.
