How much data is transmitted and received per hour of use of a remote access package?
I want to use an Air Card with my laptop to use GoToMyPC to control my office computer. Data plans seem to be 300mb for 3G and 5gb for 4G. I don't know whether using GoToMyPC for an hour uses a kilobyte or a gigabyte of wireless broadband. Window's Wireless Network Connection window shows packets transmitted and received (if it showed bytes, I could figure this out myself). Tech Support at GoToMyPC says they get this question a lot and haven't a clue what the answer is. Any help?

Well, while I do not have the exact answer, I believe I can tell you where you can find the answer for yourself. You sound like you are fairly experienced so I'll give you the short hand. from the start menu go to control panel, then system and maintenance, then administrative tools, in there should be either the "Reliability and Performance Monitor" or "Performance" (if using XP) either way open that and in the new window, if it isn't showing by default, click the performance monitor, and you will then see a graph on the right. Under the graph should be a box showing what's being monitored, you can select and remove whats there. Then right click in the graph area and click "Add counters". In the new window you'll have a bunch of things you can monitor, like your processor, hard drives, etc, and then pick different aspects of that object to monitor. You want to select your "Network Interface" object and under that there should be option like "Bytes sent/sec", "Bytes received/sec" and more, but those would be the two you want to add. So select those and click the add button. Then in the graph those aspects will be shown and you should be able to get a good estimate. I love the performance monitor, have fun with it, lots of good stats can be found there.
