  • Motorcycle battery bad? Plenty of cold cranking amps but won't hold a charge.?

I've got a 1995 BMW R1100r motorcycle I bought used a few months ago. Previous owner purchased an expensive BMW gel cell battery 2.5 years ago, along with an official BMW gel cell battery charger. Battery has had a harder and harder time starting the bike until a few days ago when it just wouldn't turn the engine over.

Charged the battery overnight, and it still wouldn't start the bike. Took it out and took it to O'Reilly's Auto Parts, who said they couldn't really test a gel cell, but they tested it anyway and said it was bad. Took it to AutoZone and they said it was good, up to 200 cold cranking amps. Batteries Plus said it was good, also.

Took it back to the house and had to charge it overnight before the "battery fully charged" light on the charger came on. Left it unconnected to anything for the day, plugged it back in when I got home, and was getting the 80%+ charged light indicator, and it took about 5 hours before it showed fully charged again (again, not attached to anything, except when connected to the charger while it was plugged in).

So, it appears to have enough cold cranking amps, but won't hold a charge overnight, even when completely disconnected.

What's going on, and what do I do about it?

  • why wasn't the P-38 lightning the bomber escort plane we needed?

Everybody says the P-51 was the first fighter that could escort bombers over Germany, but on paper it looks like the P-38 had the range, speed, altitude, and firepower. What am I missing?

  • Biblical Hebrew Q: name of God?

This question is asked in ignorance, and I have no agenda, nor desire to offend.

Regarding the second book of the Torah, God calls Moses, and Moses asks "whom shall I say sent me?" A friend who can read a little Hebrew says that what God says looks slightly different from what Moses says when the time comes. I speculate that God says "I am" and Moses says "He is", but I don't know. Does Moses say "I am" in quotes, or "He is" without the quotes? Is the name that must not be spoken a quote from God, or a paraphrase from Moses? Or do I have it completely wrong?

  • Translation from German: Alpen Musikanten?

A German band that plays at a German restaurant near my house have "Alpen Musikanten" on their shirts. I assume that Alpen = Alpine, Musi = music, and Kanten = singers (I'm guessing it's a cognate to cantar in Spanish). So far, so good. But, I'm wondering what "Musi" adds to the picture. I mean, what's the difference between a singer and a music singer? What other kinds of singers are there?

  • How much data is transmitted and received per hour of use of a remote access package?

I want to use an Air Card with my laptop to use GoToMyPC to control my office computer. Data plans seem to be 300mb for 3G and 5gb for 4G. I don't know whether using GoToMyPC for an hour uses a kilobyte or a gigabyte of wireless broadband. Window's Wireless Network Connection window shows packets transmitted and received (if it showed bytes, I could figure this out myself). Tech Support at GoToMyPC says they get this question a lot and haven't a clue what the answer is. Any help?
