29 weeks 2 days pregnant... please advise (re-post) I hope to get answers this time! :(?

Hi

I am 29 weeks 2 days pregnant with my first. I want to know how bad is my diet.

Until a couple weeks back, my diet was as follows:

I have 3 glasses of chocolate milk (I simply hate white milk)

1 cup of yogurt

1 slice of cheddar cheese

1 or 2 bananas

Apart from these things, I just have my regular meals which may include rice, tortillas (whole wheat flour), chicken, beans, potatoes, mutton mince etc.

Now, I know my diet is not good at all. I am having a horrible time with my appetite too.

I have milk. Loads of milk. I have yoghurt and cheese too. I know my calcium intake is very much fine. But other nutrients and totally not present in my diet.

I am taking prenatal vitamins (Pregvit) regularly.

My diet basically includes chicken cooked in oil with onions, tomatoes and spices.

For breakfast, I have started to take cereals - frosted flakes - since a couple days. Earlier I used to have one banana and a chicken mayo sandwich.

For lunch and dinner, it is mostly chicken that I have. I have horrible snacks - potato chips, biscuits, ice cream, chocolates. Nothing nutritious at all. No beans, no nuts, no seeds, no fruits, no veggies!!

The worst is that I know I am not having a good diet. I know I will have a terrible time. My doctor told me my blood count has dropped too. Though she says its normal, I don't even trust her words!!!

I want to know what are the consequences of my terribly horrible diet. How will it affect me, my baby and the birth process?

I swear, I desperately need motivation to get back to a better diet. I am totally puzzeled and depressed because I know I am wrong but I can't get myself to change it for the good :(

I so need to hear something that will make me opt for better and healthier food choices.

I honestly don’t see anything wrong with your diet. >_< I didn’t really eat super healthy while I was pregnant and I didn’t eat a lot all the time either. BUT I have a healthy little boy who was full term. =]

your dr is correct about the blood count. It is normal for it to go down. Your blood volume increases throughout pregnancy to compensate for the blood loss while giving birth. The iron count goes down due to dilution. It usually gets to it's lowest around 30-32 weeks and then goes back up.

as far as your diet goes, i'm not sure what you want to hear. you say you want to improve your diet then improve it, not sure what anyone can say. While the better you eat, the better you feel. The truth is that unless you have severe nutritional deficiencies or gestational diabetes, most babies are born healthy regardless of mom's diet. You are eating a lot of sugar and carbs which can lead to excessive weight gain. Excessive weight gain can make labor more difficult and increase your chance of a c-section. It also makes it harder to lose after, but i don't know if weight gain is an issue for you.

    good luck.

Breakfast- Cereal with a lot of folic acid...Honey bunches of oat and a banana and eggs

Snack- Apple and peanut butter, Chocolate milk

Lunch- Tyson chicken nuggets with added protein or chicken salad with celery on whole grain toast. baked potato. Black bean burrito with steak

Snack- Trail mix with M&M in it

    Dinner- Meat and two veggies.

I am a big chocolate milk fan too...I drink a glass every day. Just make sure you are getting a lot of protein and calcium these day.

    I hope this helps....I am 31 weeks

take a breath. you can't give up now you have to think of your baby. im no doctor idk what effect this diet will have on your baby but i mean people have worse diets...your pregnant people expect you pig out everyonce in awhile. go to the store....but some salad and some veggies to put in it or you can get broclli and chesse or carrots and ranch...then get maybe something other than bananas and maybe switch it up with a peach or apple or grapes. Cereal is fine. get back on track tomorrow and don't lose hope you can find foods you like that will be good for you and your baby

  • Im no expert but I hear that pregnant people eat loads of weird stuff, you cant 'diet' when your pregnant. Just use the excuse that your eating for two ^.^ Just get back on routine when you have had the baby.

Just glad to hear it ain't drugs, alcohole or smoking lol.

    (Good luck with the baby.btw)

That's really not that bad of a diet. You're being paranoid. All pregnant women eat a lot. But if you need motivation......

You are sick. You're addicted to food, bad food. You're ruining your health and your baby-to-be's health. How selfish. You have no clue how much harm you're causing. Wow I can't believe you!!!

    How was that??????

Milk is actually bad for you. You should get off milk completely. It's bad for you and your baby, no matter what milk commercials like to tell you. There are much, much better sources for calcium such as broccoli and other vegetables like this.

Otherwise, your diet looks ok to me. I think you should be eating more vegetables and fruit, though. Do some research on what vegetables give you calcium. Broccoli is chock full of it, way more than milk, and doesn't have all the harmful hormones that milk does.

You mean your unborn child is not enough motivation to change your diet? Then maybe the medical bills caused by your baby's failing immunesystem because of your poor diet will be. After all, if health isn't a good enough motivation, money usually is.
