Really no such thing as the BEST. Here is a review. Pick the one with the highest ratings.

Personally I use Norton Internet Security which is highly rated there.

    These suggestions are free:

When you surf the net unprotected, this is what you get:viruses, trojans, malware, spyware, smit… a bunch of other crap.To protect your PC you'll need several pieces of security software programs. The ones listed below are free and many out perform some paid security suites:

1 a firewall (install only one)

2 an anti-virus (install only one)

3 an anti-spyware/malware (install two or three)

    4 a secure browser

5 a disk cleaner (deletes temporary files, cookies, etcGet one or two)

    Free firewalls:

Comodo Internet Security (just the firewall and not the anti-virus,unless you want the full program)

    ZoneAlarm

    PC Tools Firewall Plus

    Outpost

    Online Armor

    Free anti-virus:

    avast! Home Edition 4.8

    Avira AntiVir Personal 9

AVG 9 (use Threatfire with this program to increase your level od detection)

    Panda Cloud Anti-Virus

    Microsoft Security Essentials

    Free anti-spyware/malware:

    Ad-Aware

    Malwarebytes Anti-Malware

    Windows Defender

    SUPERAnti-Spyware

    Spybot Search and Destroy

    Spyware Terminator

    SpywareBlaster

    Browser:

Firefox and load it up with McAfee Site Advisor,AVG Link Scanner,or W.O.T.(Web of Trust). Also get BetteryPrivacy,Ghostery, TACO (Targeted Advertising Cookie Opt-Out),KeyScrammbler.Set Firefox to delete cookies when you close the browser (Tools,Options,Privacy,Cookies).NoScript is also available for Firefox. If you get AVG as your anti-virus,there is no need to get the AVG Link Scanner because it is included in the program.

These are free for personal use and you can download them at CNET http://www.download.com/

Some add-ons for the Firefox browser are available at http://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/

    Disk cleaner and defrag utilities:

CCleaner ,Glary Utilities, and Advanced SystemCare ; all free

    Get it at CNET http://www.download.com/

Also get Smart Defrag and run that in Deep Optimize mode

clean and defrag for a fast unclogged OS

You have a choice to use. Avira, AVG and Avast. all of these 3 are free. but I suggest you use Avira because it is the anti-virus that has the most highest detection rate of viruses

No av program will detect at 100%. You can use crap like free avg,,, But, if you do not use an antimalware or an antispyware, You will get something, I use paid of McAfee full suite, I have the ram for it.. I use the paid of malwarebytes and superantispyware. ~

Kaspersky,Eset, Bitdefender not norton or mcafee.

Dont trust biased reviews like pcmag they always say norton is the best no matter what.
