  • Search seldom gives answers, just other search engines?

When I search with Yahoo or Google lately it sends me a long list of possible searches using other search engines.  Sometimes the answer I seek is 10-20 items down the list but often none of the what I seek.

Then if I click on any of the other "answers" it goes on and on like that, never getting to what I seek.  I even try simple easy to find things and it seldom works.  Do I have a bug?

Of course if I use a specific URL that I know works I get to that URL no problem

    Thanks for your helpl

  • recover Windows 10 with USB?

So there are lots of articles to show how to use a USB stick to make a recovery tool to update or recover windows 10 should something go wrong. There seems to be NOTHING that tells us exactly how to do that should the need appear. Can you point me to an article on that? Thanks.

  • Notebook says Win7 is not genuine?

Suddenly my notebook on startup, after the welcome screen, gives me a black screen with in very small letters the message: Build 7601 windows 7 copy is not genuine". There is no way to move from this except to hold the on/off button down to turn it off. The next time I turn it on it gives me the choises of Normal or Safe Mode. If I choose Normal I get the black screen again. If I choose one of the Safe mode choises I cannot use the commands suggested by several people

  • Yahoo Mail goes "not responding" very frequently with Firefox?

With my Win7 notebook and Firefox Yahoo Mail goes "not responding" almost every few seconds. This does not happen at all if I go to Google Chrome. Also it never happens on my XP computer nor with my Win8 computer.

    Any suggestions?? Thanks.

  • YahooGroup nonmember visibility?

First, I notice that a nonmember can see the attachments that are connected to the emails to the yahoogroup. That's strange. Can that be fixed.

Second, I would like to make it possible for nonmembers to see the Files and/or photos. This is not possible now for a moderator to select that. Can that be fixed?

Third, it used to be possible for the moderator to add a member. Many of my members are not technical enough to navigate the usual groupname-subscribe@yahoogroups.com method. Can this be brought back?

    Thanks.

  • Larger file sizes in YahooGroups?

I have a group that is about 10 years old. The file size is restricted to 5mb and the total memory allowed is 100GB. I had a conversation with one of my members who was looking at our list of files and he said he 1. had easily uploaded a 7mb file (which is really there!) and 2. at the bottom of the list he saw that we were allowed a much larger storage, I think about 500GB. That is not what I saw looking at the same page at the same time.

So why do I see small numbers and cannot upload anything larger than 5mb and he can upload much larger files?? What gives?

  • Your session has expired-often?

For years I have been able to keep my Yahoo mail session open for the usual two weeks. Just last week the session expiration note comes up all the time, even when I am in the middle of writing an email. I thought I knew how this worked but it does appear that my cookies are not blocked and I deleted the yahoo cookies in case they were corrupted. This happens both in Firefox and IE. Any suggestions? Thanks.

  • Sending mail to a group of 800?

I'm a member of a hobby club with 800 members. We are talking about how to improve communication and email is one possibility. I am very aware that if I try to send messages to these people in bulk or even in groups of 50 I'll soon be shut down by yahoo as a spammer. However, I get messages daily from organizations that I've signed up for that must send out email to thousands. How do they do this? We want to do it legally, of course. Where do I start?

  • System32 folder opens on boot up.?

Recently when I start my computer, about as boot is finishing, the Windows Explorer comes up automatically showing the System32 folder. The computer runs normally after that.

This seems to have started with this sequence of events. I used the SATA Wire upgrade kit to move all data from a small hard drive to a new larger one. That seems to have been successful.

At that one program, Nuance PDF Converter, decided I had too many installations. I uninstalled that program and reinstalled it. Now that program works ok but then this effect began. Not really sure if the two things are related. Any ideas?

  • Cleanup after Win 7 Recovery Virus Part 2?

In a previous question I described that after removing this virus some folders were missing. John sent me to a program "unhide" that found an amazing number of hidden files and folders (thanks John). In the All Programs area all single programs that had been hidden are now listed and they work. However, in the All Programs menu there are a lot of "folders" where programs used to be listed (like MS Office) that are empty. In an earlier version of Windows it was easy to mess around with that menu and put things where you wanted them. I cannot find instructions on how to work with this All Programs menu. Any suggestions? Thanks

  • Cleaning up Win 7 Recovery Virus?

I have no shortage of relatives who fail to use good AV programs. This one Win 7 HP computer got the Windows 7 Recovery Virus. We cleaned it up with Malwarebytes. Superantispyware found nothing. However, the virus removed all icons from the desktop as well as in the All Programs list. It also hid the files of one user but I found the Files commands that shows hidden files so we are ok with that. However the user's iTunes files are not to be found.

    So:

    1. Where are the iTunes files hidden and

    2. how to I rebuild the All Programs listing?

    Thanks for your help.

  • installation of Office 2010 fails?

Downloaded Office 2010. Before it installed reported that a install of Office 2003 was corrupt and needed fixing before this could proceed. I did have Office 97, Frontpage 2003 and Publisher 2002 installed. Also an automated response from the vendor said I have to remove all versions of Office before installing this. Now the uninstall using the normal Control Panel feature of each of these crashes the computer. I found that Microsoft has a FixIt tool to remove Office 2003 programs but it crashes itself. Any suggestions? Thannks

  • Why would anyone NOT use an AV program?

I've sometimes thought about setting up an isolated computer just to see how many viruses I could collect. The pain on that very thought was so great that I never did it. So why would anyone, in this day, try to use the internet without a really top rated AV program? Help me here.

  • Newspaper articles right justified sometimes, sometimes not.?

As an editor of a small hobby newsletter I was told by the guy who passed the job on to me that articles should be right justified. So I've been doing that. However, I notice that newspapers don't always do that. I see many times several articles on a page are justified and some not. For awhile it seemed that the news was justified, commentary was not, but that hypothesis has not worked out very well. Can someone explain? Thanks.
