Cleaning up Win 7 Recovery Virus?
I have no shortage of relatives who fail to use good AV programs. This one Win 7 HP computer got the Windows 7 Recovery Virus. We cleaned it up with Malwarebytes. Superantispyware found nothing. However, the virus removed all icons from the desktop as well as in the All Programs list. It also hid the files of one user but I found the Files commands that shows hidden files so we are ok with that. However the user's iTunes files are not to be found.
So:
1. Where are the iTunes files hidden and
2. how to I rebuild the All Programs listing?
Thanks for your help.
Both responders were correct but one was a bit more detailed so I have to choose that one. The Unhide.exe found a large number of hidden icons, folders and files, but could not completely fill in the Start Menu, which had to be done by hand from a tutorial in the www.sevenforum.com.

Try doing a system restore. The virus typically doesnt remove the things but it hides them. Searching for everything and re adding it would be s pain so u might want to use a program to unhide everything. Try looking for a program called unhide.exe
