Need some game ideas for a three year olds party..?
My son is turning three in March and we're trying to plan ahead a little for his birthday so we're not rushing the last minute with little details. He decided he wants to do Disney Cars for his party this year and I am stumped for ideas on games that three year olds can handle to keep them entertained for two hours with this particular theme. We will have cake and icecream at the party and when they arrive I'll have Cars coloring sheets for them to do. I also thought about saving empty plastic bottles from water and putting tractor cut outs on the front to let the kids toss bean bags at to do "tractor tipping" but I need some more entertainment ideas centered around the theme. Any game we play they will get a prize just for trying since they are only three year olds and most kids won't understand the idea of winning/losing when playing a game in a group just yet.. The party is going to be in the afternoon and is only going to be 2 hours long so watching the movie is not really an option. We're also not big on renting entertainment either for parties and the party will be at our home. He's inviting about eight friends from church and friends kids we know to his party.
Any simple game ideas for three year olds on the cars theme would be helpful. Thanks.
I'm really looking for ideas centered around the Cars theme.

Fun theme for the age. I like the tractor tipping idea...really cute. You can make a race track with sidewalk chalk...then have them race little matchbox cars....at that age, they might just want to play cars. My kids love that. You can also make some kind of relay race (where they are the cars). We did the old fashioned hoop game at our last party...I was thinking that you could take small embroidery hoops (the inside hoop doesn't have the opening...paint black or cover in black tape...to look like tires) & wooden dowels...you roll it with the dowel. My 3 year old had fun doing that, but she had help from the older kids. You could also take those hoops & make them look like tires...then, use them in a ring toss game. I agree about the prize thing...they aren't there yet.

We did a Cars theme party for my son for his 2nd b'day last yr. www.birthdayinabox.com has a lot of cute Cars decorations and party favor bags that the kids loved and played with for a while. The favors included car launchers and an oil can squirt gun. My son has a lot of the Disney Cars toys that look like the characters so we set those up in a room with a bunch of race tracks and let the kids go crazy. We also blew up a bunch of balloons (Red, black, and white) and let those lay on the floor for decorations and the kids played with those. One year, I did a birthday bingo where I made bingo cards and had a different character in each block. The 1st kid to get bingo won a prize. Hope these ideas help!

We were going to do Cars for our sons 3rd in January, but a location change has changed our theme to sports. I'm so glad to hand along our ideas! Preface all of these with 'what we were going to do is...'
a relay, they would pick a 'car' to be and do red light green light. order extra cupcake toppers for them to pick a car from. so what if someone picks the same car.
musical chairs, pick a car and run wild until the cars music stops (soundtrack on itunes) and find a seat, but frankly we wouldn't take away any chairs.
get the parents involved, have them show the kids how each activity is done, they'll get a kick out of watching the parents acting goofy. maybe have one of the funnier moms or dads head this up.
I wouldn't sweat the prizes, my son barely got Christmas, so not sure they would care and there's potential for a little infighting with the 'losers' just give fun goodie bags :)
disney.com has great party printouts and ideas for their themed parties, I dont' know the extent of what's there.
Have a great time!!! And happy third birthday to your son!!!

If you are trying to stick with the theme you could do red light green light, or pin the wind shield wiper on the car, simon says only they have to pretend to be cars and everything you do can be related to something a car does (step on the gas, windshield wipers). I would encourage interactive games that encourage activity since they are only 3. Good luck and have fun!

Dance Dance Revolution/ DDR or maybe that is too hard.
Actually, I suggest little kid games like from Disney.

something with a little prize at the end.. every little kid loves an incentive. and classics like pin the tail... maybe you could do puppet shows
