    This is actually a simple algebra problem that is solved like so:

    You need to fill in the Information given to solve the equation: 38=4n+2

    Subtract two from both sides to get the variable alone, so the new equation should look like: 36=4n.

    You now must divide every side by 4 to isolate n by itself: 9=n.

    So 9 sections of a frame can be filled with a 38 meter string of lights.

    Check: 38=4(9)+2

    38=36+2

    38=38

    If you still need help, you should talk to an adult or your math teacher for more information. This is quite easy to grasp if you learn the basics. If my explanation is confusing, email or Instant message me. I'm always here to help. Hope this helps.

    Not sure if this is right, but I'm going to try:

    L = 4N + 2

    L = Length

    N = Sections

    You don't know the size fram (# of sections) so you don't know "N"

    You do know that the string is 38 meters long (or the length is 38 meters) so

    L = 38

    You can now plug in 38 for L and solve for N

    38 = 4N + 2

    Subtract 2 from both sides

    36 = 4N

    Divide each side by 4 to get N alone

    9 = N

    or

    N = 9

    You need a frame with 9 sections
