Could the Elder Wand have been a Horcrux?

maybe Grindelwald's, I wonder?

Update:

I mean, like Voldemort, Gellert Grindelwald could have made a Horcrux. What if it was the Elder Wand and GG confided it (as a part of his soul) to Dumbledore after the duel?

I quite like this theory as it supposes GG loved AD back.

However, I am not sure a wand can be a Horcrux that is why I am asking this question.

I think Grindewald certainly *could* have made the Elder Wand into a Horcrux sometime after he stole it from Gregorovich, but I don't think he *would* have. He was determined to execute his plan to unify the Deathly Hallows and use them to subjegate Muggles into serving Wizardkind for "The Greater Good." Since he planned to continue to use the Elder Wand it wouldn't be a practical object to use to make into a Horcrux. The purpose of a Horcrux is to safeguard a piece of it's maker's soul. It wouldn't make sense to make a Horcrux out of a weapon you want to continue using because it would constantly be put at risk for damage. And the Elder Wand was too powerful a tool for him to put away to protect it.

As meaningful as Marvolo's ring was to Tom M. Riddle, he quit wearing it after he made it into a Horcrux. He put a powerful curse on it and hid it carefully in a place he thought no one would find it. Besides, Grindewald didn't *give* the Elder Wand to Dumbledore, Dumbledore won it from him. As Dumbledore explained to Harry, he was reluctant to duel with his old friend, but finally did when he felt he could put it off no longer. He won the allegiance of the Elder Wand with his famous 1945 defeat of Grindewald. No; I think Grindewald was truly prepared to meet death when Voldemort killed him in Nurmengaard prison. Having a Horcrux would've left him a spirit. Dumbledore disapproved of the use of Dark Arts and wouldn't have been willing to do what was necessary to allow Grindewald to be reborn like Wormtail did for Voldemort.

Is it a possibility? Sure. Given the Wand's history and the sort of Wizard who often possessed it, it is not out of the question. However, as a practical matter, we know that it wasn't one of Voldemort's, and that It was going back to Dumbledore's tomb (which, I imagine would be strongly warded, to prevent any more despoiling). Therefore, If someone did make a Horcrux of it, they could expect no help in reincarnating.

I don't think so. It's a Hallow. But, yet again, the ring was a Hallow and a Horcrux. But I don't think Gridenwald would of made a Horcrux. Hallows, not Horcruxes for him.

The Elder wand was one of the hallows.

And there were only 7 horcruxes.

    Read the 7th book.

The Elder Want was never mentioned as a Horcrux.

    It was a Hallow.

It's able to be, technically, but it wasn't. They would have noticed. If someone used it, they would've felt a darkness, they would've been trapped by it's dark powers...
