My 5 month old baby has had a cough for 2-3 weeks now. Should he go back to the doctor again?
It started out as a cold in his nose, then it started draining out, and then turned into a cough. He doesnt do it all the time, just every now and then. It does not keep him up at night either, it just interupts his feedings sometimes. He has been seen by a doctor more than once, the last time was 2 weeks ago, and the doctor said his lungs were fine, that it was flem in his throat. His breathing seems fine, he just will all of the sudden start coughing and choking afterwards. I hate to take him back to the doctor, just for them to say he is fine again and be sent on my way.
What do you think?
We have been using a nose sucker and a saline drops, his nose seems much more clear than what it was, its just the coughing every now and then that really concerns me.

the all of a sudden could be because of the phlegm in his throat, and the choking could just be on the phlegm when he coughs it up, shouldn't be anything to worry about just keep him comfortable, a humidifier works, just keep an eye on it his breathing esspecially :)

i know it sucks!! my son is going through the same thing right now! I took him to the doctor and they said the same thing. We have been running a humidifier and putting vicks for babies on his chest at night. We also found a vicks plug in that puts the scent in the entire room. it seems to be working for now. He sounds like it's breaking up now. if he doesn't have a fever I wouldn't worry about it right now. just do what you can to make him comfortable.

use the bulb syringe & saline drops more often, run a vaporizer in the home, & wash all hands more frequently. if the cough persists, see a pulmonologist.
