Are people getting too sensitive?

I've been reported more times than I can count (up to 21) and usually it's for something benign. Are people looking too hard for something to be offended by?

If possible, give some examples of what was in your violations. Best story gets 10 pts.

Update:

Tehabwa – you need to read my question. Nowhere did I ask WHY nor did I ever say anything about whether or not I read the guidelines. I also did not say that I cared to appeal. You didn’t answer my question at all! A person with a brain would have read the question, not read into it…

A person had a border collie that had been sprayed by a skunk. I got reported the the product I told her to use to get the skunk odor out of the dogs hair. While I will concede that it probably sounded like an odd thing to use, I had researched my answer with vets and other dog sites, submitted the answer dozens of times before, did not mention the product by name brand, but got reported for my answer. I did write to y/a for an appeal and won, but I was stunned that the product got reported, since several people also suggest that product and sometimes other people even suggest the name brand. A dog tends to get sprayed by a skunk early in the morning, you need to be able to go to the store and get a product that is available in most countries, not all countries have Pet Smart or Pet Co, and waiting for those stores to open could make things worse. It is hard to know what would offend someone in one country might not even take notice in another country. In dogs recently, a girl started a fight in the category, and then got upset with people for the answers they submitted, because she was a child. She didn't take into consideration the offense of her question, and her lack of training experience, when she posted her question, then had the audacity to get upset when people answered her like they did. She posted the question like she was a grown up with years experience training dogs, when in fact she was just a 15-year-old child, with her first puppy, and no experience in training. Somedays you are the pigeon, somedays the statue. I don't know who to source for that quote.

This forum is missing tone of voice. It's missing facial expression.

It's missing a relationship between most members and others (although are on here so long it does become almost a chat room).

So, a person liek me will likely not know how to take some things you say, simply because I do not have all of that background and non-verbal information on you.

That said, there are many automatic thoughts and assumptions that the reporters will make.

Some people think everything's directed them at them, liek me. I have a lot in common with people with Asperger';s, a high functioning kind of autism. Yet to see an expert, will do this year.

Anyway, there are many belief systems,

so if you don't somehow make it clear that you are joking, or if you joke with someone who doesn't know you well,

then you are indeed allowing others' automatic beliefs to work with your words to create offense.

    And you know what?

You are responsible for how you come across.

Source(s): As for a story, I have been away from YA! so long I don't remember much. I report people for racist tones, etc.... and I was once reported but I don't know for what and did not have to answer to anyone over it, or else maybe it was jsut that my entry was deleted...

You need to read the Guidelines.

If your posts weren't violations, appeal them.

"offensive" is not the only criterion for deletion. For instance, posting information or rants as questions is a violation. Not answering the question is a violation.

You don't seem to know WHY your stuff was removed; why not read the friggin' Guidelines and find out? That's what anyone with any brain at all would have done.
