Buy or Sell: Doe or Die is on par with Illmatic?

It is a little below Illmatic but Doe or Die is a very Underrated Album. Best Gang Starr Album is to me is Moment of Truth.

The amount of thumbs down in this question is stunning. Anyway, After Illmatic Nas started heading to be more mainstream, which started the whole thing between Nas and Jay-Z. It makes sense that more people would like It Was Written than Illmatic. Of course, Illmatic was more succesful but you never know. I'll buy. Affirmative Action is my favorite rap right now. I wanted to hear a bit more AZ tho D:

Sell, I like Doe or Die but Illmatic was better, particularly production-wise (imo).

Doe or Die is a tight album, and AZ is nice lyrically, but he has no charisma. There is nothing about him that holds my attention, which is why the stand out tracks on Doe or Die are all ones with features on them (mostly thanks to Nas).

AZ is nice on paper, but he just doesn't have *it*.

As far is that Common thing goes, I always thought he was just saying "Why not, never the less". I think you may have read too much into it. Unless I'm missing something.

Sell, it's a classic but on par with Illmatic? no...

Hard To Earn and Moment of Truth

ther both great albums but Doe or Die didnt have near the same impact that illmatic did.

lyrically and flow wise doe or die is a bit better than illmatic but do or die had ****/boring tracks (sugar hill).

plus doe or die has lame production compared to the perfect production from lp and premo on illmatic.
