What breeds of dogs are bigger than cats? (but are still cute.)?
I want to get a dog. I'm a yorkie type of person, I like small, cute dogs that I can pick up and cuddle. But my dad said that we can't have a dog that's smaller than our family cat. She is kinda big, if you hollowed out our printer she would fill it with her head sticking out. please help!!

You got the basics:
German Shepard
Labrador Retriever
Golden Retriever
There are some nice breeds that remain cute as they age but they are big:
Shiba Inu
Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever
Kuvasz (My personal favorite)
Great Pyrenees
Finnish Spitz
Giant Schnauzer (like the normal breed look... but bigger in size)
Bouvier des Flandres (their look reminds me of a bigger sized version of Toto from the movie, The Wizard of Oz).
If you are considering a dog, try adopting. You can find out from a local shelter (or even online sites) on what dog gets a long best with cats and families (some animals don't like children... or a household with many people). From their findings you can then narrow down to a dog that you like. Also, with adopting, you won't have to pay tons of money for a puppy that was created at a puppy mill (where dogs are only used to make puppies, which are then often malnourished, abused, and give birth to unhealthy puppies).

This site teams up with animal shelters across the nation with images for the dogs as well as a short biography of the dog and their age, size, location (what shelter they are at) and whether they get along with cats and families.

I love Boxers.
I think Huskies are cute.
Golden Retrievers are amazing!
Beagles are great.
Akita Inu looks amazingly cute!
and there are millions of other dogs, but there might not be any by where you live..Check in the newspaper, or go to a shelter and look at what kind of dogs they have, but keep in mind all the dogs that people tell you on here.

A Caviler King Charles is one of the best small dogs you can own. There highly intelligent, like a lab. There very affectionate and loves people and other animals. There easy to train. Moderate shedding. Cheaper to insure then other animals. They do have big eyes, so it would be wise to get your cat declawed.

Nope. I'm a Chow- Chow owner who named her dog Teddy because she looked like a little fluffy teddy bear. Edit:Okay @ Nancy Kay- Then explain how my chow coexists perfectly with 3 cats and a rabbit. Then go on to explain how every chow owner I know has cats. Even my dogs breeder has cats.

I would suggest a longhaired dochshund if you can handle one. They require alot of attention though. They grow to a maximum of possibly 1 1/2 - 2 ft long.VERY VERY cute though.

A Schnauzer is the best smaller dog anyone can have. They are smart and still loving. =)

Basenji! that's the dog of my dreams. They are just the right size not to big, not to small and pretty quiet. They are spunky, smart dogs. Take a look they are gorgeous!
