Help me choose a name for my story?
The main guy in my story was born in 1934, and therefore is a teenager in the 50's. I put together a short list of names from the government database of baby names in 1934, and need help choosing. Also, though, if anyone has any better suggestions, I'll definitely consider them. Here's the list:
Charles
Carter
Alden
James
Oliver
Joseph
If it helps make a choice, the main female character is Ruthie, a nickname for Ruth (obviously).
Thanks for the help!
the character is a bubbly italian boy, the oldest child in his family, he plays football at his high school, he's popular and pretty loud.

I think either Charles, James or Oliver. They're simple names, but also the type of name I like seeing when I read books.

My suggestion would be Carter. Like Charles, it goes well with Ruthie. It sounds more American and less British (to me of course). Another reason - Carter ends with R with which Ruthie starts.

I think that Oliver would be the best match with Ruthie. As long as your story is in no way like Oliver Twist because that would be weird.

Not Oliver, it would probably remind to many readers of Oliver Twist, although that's just my opinion. I like Charles. Although it would help to use the character's personality to decide.
