Problem choosing a major?
I am having a VERY hard time choosing what to major in/what to do with my life. There is just so much I'm interested in...nutrition, cooking, language, dance, theater, travel, etc. Now, normally, people would answer this kind of question telling the person just to go to college as an undecided major and pick later, or choose a major and switch if they don't like it. However, the college major I choose honestly does decide where I will go to college. There is not one college with all the majors I might want, nor are any two of my potential colleges in the same city...or even the same state. I know this is terrible, I'm having this crisis at the worst possible time, seeing as how I'm currently a senior and it's the middle of May. Help me.
3 AnswersHigher Education (University +)1 decade agoHelp with my college decision?
I have a few options, but I'm having a lot of trouble trying to decide.
1. Go to a program in California that I've already been accepted to where I get to sing and dance and travel the world (all things that I love) and do music workshops with children and teenagers. I would get an associate's degree out of it. It's a great opportunity. Unfortunately, this could cost me up to $28,000. My family doesn't qualify for much financial aid but we also don't have money saved up, so this will mean I'll be taking out probably $20,000 in loans, before I even transfer to get my bachelor's degree. And I won't have much time for even a part time job, since I would only have 1 full day off per week and some days I'd be taking classes from 8am to 10pm.
2. Go to a community college in my home state. I would probably be moving in with one of my best friends, and the college has a fantastic dance program. It's in a lovely city, isn't terribly expensive, not to mention I'd get in-state rates. Much, much cheaper, and I'd be able to hold a job to pay my way through.
3. Move to California. The purpose of this is to gain residency status in order to go to a community college there. This community college is incredibly cheap but is the top rated community college in California, and has a high transfer rate to the college I know I want to attend to get my bachelor's degree. For the year it would take me to get residency, I'd get a job, get acclimated in the community, attend auditions, etc. It wouldn't be me sitting at home all year not doing anything.
All three of these options are relatively attractive to me. There's not one of these that I would absolutely hate. Now, a couple things to keep in mind. Option one provides me with a great opportunity for several thousand dollars, but I could honestly probably do something similar for several thousand LESS dollars. In the case of option two, I would still go to California eventually, but I would still need a year out there to gain residency for good prices. I'm not sure how the credits from option two's community college would transfer. In the case of option 3, I can still take some time off to travel or do my own thing before I get my bachelor's, but I would already be a California resident so it would be very easy for me to go to that college. I guess an option 4 would be to stay here next year, live with my parents, get a job, earn money, and not be spending on rent, maybe get my associate's at the community college here. The problem is, I really want to move out, and I really want to get out of this town. I'm just trying to be practical. Sorry for the novel, but PLEASE HELP.

2 AnswersHigher Education (University +)1 decade agoI'm trying to start a Christmas gifting tradition, please help! (homemade)?
For the people in my life who I want to show that I enjoy their presence, I'm baking.
However, I don't find this to be personal enough to give to my two best friends! What I'm trying to think of (and have been googling and searching everywhere to no avail) is a gift that I can make for them or buy for very cheap (college student's budget) that I can either add to each year or give them the same thing the next year and have them be able to start a collection. An idea I had, though not exactly for the age group I need, would be to sew together a little teddy bear and an outfit, and then maybe make a new outfit for the bear each year. Something similar to that. Thanks in advance for your help; I've had a couple ideas but nothing has seemed quite perfect yet.
5 AnswersChristmas1 decade agoCommunity College quality?
Does the quality of a community college matter for transferring to university? Say your grades are awesome and you have an associate's in the subject you want to major in...are they going to care a lot if the community college is a great-quality school?
1 AnswerHigher Education (University +)1 decade agoSending colleges all your application stuff?
Ok so I'm just going to use the example of one college I'm applying to. I plan to submit an online application. However, I have to have all my official transcripts (which are from 3 different schools, yikes!), letters of recommendation, and test scores mailed to the college. Is there a way to assure that everything gets there at the same time? Will they get annoyed if they keep getting things for my application? Will it all end up in some sort of file that my application is in? I really don't want to make them angry but there is SO much stuff I have to send them. HELP ME.
2 AnswersHigher Education (University +)1 decade agoChoreography question?
I have an idea for a dance just waiting for me to choreograph it....however I have not yet found the perfect song for it. I was considering starting the choreography before I have the song finalized. I'm just not sure if this is a good idea, because what if once I choreograph it it never fits with any music, you know? Suggestions? I've choreographed before, I'm not a beginner dancer, so serious answers please. :)
4 AnswersDancing1 decade agoTough weight loss, healthy way?
I am 5'0", around 125-130lbs, with 36DD breasts. My BMI is on the higher side of what is alright for someone my height, and it has even been in the overweight range very recently. This is not ok with me, and I would like to lose some weight in a healthy way. I would like to hope that this means I will lose a cup size or so as well. My mom told me that in our family when the women lose weight they lose cup sizes. However, I'm a dancer, so I have muscles, which I know can add weight, but I'd like to keep those muscles. I've also always had a tough time losing weight. Would you recommend I use Weight Watchers? Get a nutritionist? Or just try to regulate the entire process by myself? I don't want to completely eliminate sugar or anything, because I love to cook and don't want to deprive myself of anything. Also, I'm vegan, if that makes a difference in anyone's suggestions. Any input is welcome. Thanks in advance :)
8 AnswersDiet & Fitness1 decade agoHelp me understand my Shakespeare monologue?
I'm learning this monologue for an audition and I really want to make sure that I have the right emotions and context in mind while I memorize. It's from Two Gentlemen of Verona, it's Julia's monologue after she rips up Proteus' letter.
Nay, would I were so angered with the same
Oh hateful hands, to tear such loving words!
Injurious wasps, to feed on such sweet honey
And kill the bees that yield it with your stings.
I'll kiss each several paper for amends.
Look, here is writ 'kind Julia.' Unkind Julia!
As in revenge of thy ingratitude
I throw thy name against the bruising stones
Trampling contemptuously on thy disdain.
And here is writ 'love-wounded Proteus!'
Oh poor wounded name! My bosom as a bed
Shall lodge thee til thy wound be thoroughly healed
And thus I search it with a sovereign kiss.
But twice or thrice was 'Proteus' written down.
Be calm, good wind, blow not a word away
Til I have found each letter in the letter.
Except mine own name: that some whirlwind bear
Unto a ragged and fearful-hanging rock
And throw it thence into the raging sea.
Lo, here on one line is his name twice writ.
'Poor forlorn Proteus, passionate Proteus,
To the sweet Julia:' that i'll tear away
Yet I will not, sith so prettily
He couples it to his complaining names.
Thus will I fold them one on another
Now kiss, embrace, contend, do what you will.
I understand it overall, but I want general context subtleties...like, for example, did she already rip up the letter or is she in the process of it when she realizes it's a bad idea? And, while saying these lines, is she trying to put the letter back together? She's still in love with Proteus? What does she go on to do after this monologue is over?
Anything helps, but serious answers only, please. :)
1 AnswerTheater & Acting1 decade agoHelp me choose a name for my story?
The main guy in my story was born in 1934, and therefore is a teenager in the 50's. I put together a short list of names from the government database of baby names in 1934, and need help choosing. Also, though, if anyone has any better suggestions, I'll definitely consider them. Here's the list:
Charles
Carter
Alden
James
Oliver
Joseph
If it helps make a choice, the main female character is Ruthie, a nickname for Ruth (obviously).
Thanks for the help!

1 AnswerUser Profiles1 decade agoHow will colleges look at this?
At the semester break, I will be transferring into homeschooling. I am in 11th grade. My concern is this: how/will it affect how colleges look at me that I will have half a year of public school credits and half a year of homeschool credits for my junior year?
I would prefer that people offer more insight than "just don't homeschool!"
Thanks.
8 AnswersHome Schooling1 decade agoBetter job offer....oh no!?
I've been submitting applications to several different jobs for a couple of months now. A week or so ago I got a call from a company I had turned in my application to only a couple days prior. I had my interview, and they called me and offered me a job. Today, I went in to finalize paperwork and the like. When I got home, I checked my messages and heard an offer for an interview from a MUCH better job (better benefits, likely better pay). I haven't started at the job I first accepted...and my question is, should I even bother interviewing with the better job? Should I leave it at "oh well, things like this happen," and start my first job? Or should I interview at the better job and decide what to do if they want to hire me? Would it completely wrong to give 2 weeks notice to a job I've been at for less than a month if they DO want to hire me???
HELP.
