Are SLR Camera Lenses Universal?
I'm thinking about buying a Digital SLR camera. I'm in the early stages of my research and curious to know if the lenses are universal. Meaning, will a Canon lense fit a Pentax camera?
Thanks!

That is a definate no. Each camera manufacture uses a different type of lens mount. Yes, Canon, Nikon and others have "bayonet" mounts... But each manufacture makes them differently. That is why you have to choose your SLR or DSLR very carefully. Because once you buy the body, you're limited to using only the lenses made specifically for that line of camera (Nikon, Pentax, Canon, etc.). HOWEVER. Sigma, Tamron, Viviter and several other companies do make lenses for most (D)SLR'S. They do this by building the basic lens with mounts for different makes of SLR's. But once the lens is manufactured, you cannot mount that lens on just any camera... it can only be mounted on the mount it was built for.

No although there are some 3rd party adapters that will allow multi system lens use (I do it to an extent). http://cgi.ebay.com/AF-Confirm-Pentax-K-PK-Lens-to...

It's best to say no. But there may be adapter rings available but be aware that might not be ideal.
