  • Nikon 24-70mm 2.8 or 70-200mm 2.8?

    It's me again. lol

I was in here asking a question the other day on whether or not to get a D7000 or a D300s. Well, I've decided on rather than getting a new camera body to opt for a new lens.

So, my question now is on whether to get a 24-70mm 2.8 or a 70-200mm 2.8 VRII? I currently own a 35mm 1.8 prime lens, an 18-55mm and 55-200mm VR lens.

Mostly, I shott pics of family and friends. I'm no pro, so this is just a hobby...that I love. That being said, I'd like to get a great lens. (No, I don't want to consider a Sigma or Tamron lens)

Here are my thoughts: I could go with the 24-70mm and get rid of my 35mm 1.8 while allowing me to keep my 55-200mm VR lens. Or I can ditch the 55-200mm VR lens and go for the 70-200mm VRII while keeping the 35mm prime lens.

    Your thoughts?

  • If Cameras have a flash commander, why use triggers?

If cameras are equipped with the ability to control an external flash while in Commander mode, then why are photographers using PW radio triggers and/or CLS type remotes for wireless off-camera flash operation?

  • Nikon D7000 with Kit Lens or Body Only?

I'm planning on buying a Nikon D7000 and am curious to know if I should get it with the 18-105 kit lens. I already own an 18-55mm, 55-200 mm and a 35 mm 1.8. Would the 18-105 be over kill? Would I benefit by saving on the body only and applying it towards a better lens? If so, what do you recommend for portraits?

Also, I'm no pro and just love taking pics of my family friends. Thanks!

  • Which do you recommend, the D7000 or D300s?

Hey guys. I'm planning on getting a new DSLR and was set on getting a Nikon D300s until Nikon released the new D7000. Based on specs alone, it seems like the D7000 may trump the D300s with it's new metering system and higher megapixel count. Although the D300s has more auto-focus points (51 over 39), even at 39 it's far more than I current have.

I mostly shoot family portraits and rarely find myself needing a high FPS, so the 7-8 FPS of the D300s is of no benefit to me.

For the cost of the Nikon D300s body, I can pick up the D7000 with a kit lens. I guess I'm curious to know what benefit the D300s may have over the D7000. Any advise you can provide is greately appreciated. Thanks!

  • Nikon D7000 vs. D300s?

I've been saving up for a Nikon D300s and find out that Nikon releases the D7000. I know that the D7000 isn't the replacement for the D300s, but their specs are pretty close. Just curious to know if I'll see a benefit of the additional autofocus points and FPS of the D300s over the D7000. Or, will the new image sensor and higher MP of the D7000 benefit over the 12.3 MP of the D300s? Thanks!

  • Flash Chord or Wireless Transmitter?

I was given an SB-600 Flash for my Nikon camera for my birthday and was thinking about using the flash off camera. I'm no camera pro and am curious to experiment with what kind of images I can get with the flash off the camera.

I found a Pocket Wizard flash trigger that I'm interested in, or for a little less, I could get a Nikon sc-29 flash chord.

Ever use a Pocket Wizard trigger? Do you use a sc-29 flash chord?

Will either control the flash exposure remotely? Anyway, I'm just curious on your thoughts. Thanks!

  • NEF (raw) files do not open in Adobe Photoshop Elements 7.0?

I own a Nikon DSLR camea and was playing with raw images. Attempting to open the images in Adobe Photoshop Elements 7.0, I get a message indicating that it can't open NEF file type. The weird part is that the images open in Lightroom with no problem. (I usually clean up the images in Elements then finish them off in Lightroom)

Any thoughts on how to get the NEF file to open in Elements 7.0?

  • Should I buy her Valentines Day Flowers?

I've only gone out with her twice. The first time was about 3 weeks ago, and then again last Friday. We're not a "couple"....we're just dating. With Valentines Day coming up, I'm curious to know if I should buy her roses or flowers or any of that junk? Thanks!

  • Which Digital SLR Camera Should I Buy?

I'm thinking of buying a Digital SLR camera and am a bit overwhelmed by the many different models each manufacturer offers. I know that I don't want to get a low-end camera but also don't need a professional quality camera. I just need something to take great pics of family and friends.

What camera do you have? What features do you like about it? What features do you not like, or wish it had?

    Thanks!

  • My Laptop Won't Run After Turning It On. Any Ideas?

    Toshiba Satellite M305-S4848 Laptop.

After I press the power button, the screen that displays TOSHIBA freezes. It gives the option: Press <F2> to enter Setup, <F12> to enter MultiBoot Selection Menu, but it gets stuck on this screen. <F2> or <F12> buttons are non-responsive.

Holding down the power button for a few seconds does nothing as well.

I'm kind of at a loss and don't know what else to do. Any ideas?

  • Please help with my car amp ?

I own a 2007 Jeep Wrangler. I have an amp and subwoofer from my last car (02 Jetta), and want to install them into the Jeep. In my Jetta, I ran the power switch cable to the stereo fuse, which let me install the amp without removing the stock head unit. I tried to do the same in the Jeep, but the amp stays on even though the Jeep is off. Any ideas on where to connect the power lead?

  • Grounding a Car Amp Help?

  • Car Amp Will Not Turn On....?

I have installed a car amp into my 2007 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 4dr. I connected the power cable to the positive terminal of the battery, grounded the amp to a seat post (amp underneath seat), and the turn-on lead was placed in the fuse for the factory stereo (as it was in my other car). I placed the turn-on lead along with the fuse cause I could not determine how to remove the factory head unit, and since it worked before in my other car, I figured why not.

With every cable connected, the amp will not turn on. Any ideas as to why it isn't working. Could it just be an old amp that's no good any more? It was sitting in a cabinet in my garage for about 2 years....
