Marriage Protection Act of 2010?

I think it's a great idea. I voted against prop 8, because I believe civil marriage should have nothing to do with religious marriage. Prop 8 supporters won by declaring that the "sanctity" of marriage must be protected against some assault. The biggest threat to the sanctity of any marriage is divorce, so it's a potentially good way to confront those prop 8 supporters with the fact that they really don't believe in the sanctity of marriage if they vote against the marriage protection act.

I do not support divorce, but i dont think there should be a ban. Im sure if it were passed there would be some exceptions such as when there is abuse or something. Even so, the government shouldnt force two people to be together if they are miserable. Besides, if they are forced to be married forever, they can just move out, date other people, and live a single life, they just couldnt marry again-and if they wanted to, they could just move.

Its really silly, there would be so many loopholes, and its pretty pointless, it would never "preserve the sanctity of marriage".

What others do as to forming partnerships, doesn't change my relationships at all. Live and let live.

The whole concept of the "sanctity of marriage" is a religious thing. The state should issue licenses for legal reasons, taxes, inheritance, access to the hospital and the like but the sex of those joining together shouldn't matter at all to the state.

So let the state issue partnership licenses, and the church, if any make it a marriage in the religious sense.

It will never pass, divorce is a God given right. In California, I voted against Prop 8, marriage is between a man and a woman.

What will Cali think of next? A ban on divorce, really? So if a woman's husband beats the hell out of her and she files for divorce, she's in the wrong? Or if a woman cheats on a man and he wants to get away from her hoe ***, and he files for divorce, that's wrong? Right, let's take away freedoms one at a time, here in america so soon we can be the "free except with certain limits and circumstances our government puts on us" peoples of the US.

You marry cause you love someone no matter of sex race religion or background. differiences can be settled. I just foudn out my hubby of 9 years has had computer relations with another woman...
