Full Metal Alchemist... brotherhood?

FMAB follows the manga almost exactly with just a few dialogue changes. The first series FMA was not meant to follow the manga story line it was its own independent story. Just meant to fill in until the anime that followed the manga could be made. They are both very good in their own way. Don't expect the two stories to follow the same path that's not what they were meant to do. The character development in FMAB is much deeper and they don't always follow the same line as FMA which can be a little confusing at first, just watch them as two independent series with the same basic characters and you will enjoy them both. The Movie is good, but itself also meant to be a stand alone movie that could be enjoyed even if you didn't follow the series. And its fun seeing familiar characters in other character rolls in the alternative world. Also to really appreciate all of the FMA world you should watch it with the Japanese audio with subs if needed. That way you get to hear how the characters were really meant to sound. It actually adds a different dimension to the characters.

ya FMA was awesome and ya i never read the manga to it but i started watching brotherhood. then when i watched all of those epsodes that were out i started reading the manga and brotherhood follows the manga exactly unlike the first FMA

so ya its diffrent cause brotherhood follows the manga. not a continuation

brotherhood is a REMAKE of the original fullmetal alchemist series that follows the manga. the manga differs GREATLY after greed kidnaps al (some differences are different humonculi, scar hasn't died, and a different main enemy).

I tried watching the first few episodes and i hated it because there really wasn't a need for it. It seems to be just a different take on the original.

FMAB- is like a shorter more funny not as serious version of the original FMA.

I dunno about that, but the FMA movie is a continuation of the series, you should watch that.
