Tick over set too low. Could be slack throttle cable that needs adjusting or just the throttle stop settings. The dash lights will dim when the engine stops as there is no charging going on. When your engine is running you should have 13.2 volts across the battery terminals, when not running it will drop slightly to around 11.5 to 12 if it's below this you could have a faulty battery but if this was not some thing that was apparent before you had your tick over problem it may well be nothing at all . Just keep checking the battery when the engine is stopped and when running and note the voltages, this way you get some idea over a few weeks what state it is in.

you may desire to have an OBD-II scanner attached to your diagnostic connector collectively as you tension, and the subsequent time it stalls, you press a button to save the engine sensor circumstances that befell at that component. then you definitely see what failed. Ignition drop outs reason an on the spot end of the engine, yet gas issues reason a greater sluggish stall. in case you have an RPM tachmometer, this is going to drop to 0 like a rock for an ignition drop out, yet flutter down steadily for a gas issue. Ask your broking's save in the event that they are going to hook their scanner up and take it for a tension with you, however the motor vehicle has to stall for them to checklist the topic.

sound like a problem with the idle. and the reason the lights dim when you are driving is because the alternator is not working when the engine shuts off
