XM Radio Cuts Out While Driving?
I am new to the satellite radio in cars with a trial period of XM radio. On my way to work I pass under several bridges on an expressway. After driving through the overpasses my XM radio cuts out like it loses connectivity to the satellite. This does not happen at all bridges/overpasses, just a few. Does this happen regularly to XM radios or do I have a defective antenna?

The Sirius/XM satellite signal is not very strong to begin with, and when you loose direct line-of-sight contact with the satellite, your signal is going to drop out. That's just the nature of the beast. Even with a large external antenna on our truck we get signal dropouts whenever the direct view of the southern sky is blocked for more than a few seconds.

Antenna location should be some of it but under an overpass the signal is lost for a time directly related to the size of the overpass and how it relates to the satellite. The reason you hear the cut out later is that there is a slight buffer.
I can't prove it but I have noticed more drop outs since Sirius and XM merged.

Tall homes and overpasses can interrupt your sign. you're able to desire to have a clean line of sight out of your receiver to the sky. in case you're in direction of no-the place then you definitely in all probability are in a ineffective zone as they stated.
