What defines an act of god?
I'm not trolling, just really curious.
What does define an act of God? A hurricane or other natural disaster would be considered and act of god, yet something as simple as a bad moral code is considered something from the devil. You never really hear about say a flood or a volcano being an act of Satan, who's suppose to be evil and whatnot. Personally, I'd think the deaths of 200,000 people by an act of god is a lot worse than one person being gay, or another stealing or cheating by an act of the devil. Hell, one person being murdered by an act of the devil is still a lot better than any number of people being killed by an act of God since most acts of God go well in to the hundreds and thousands in terms of death tolls.
So again I ask, what exactly defines an act of God, and why? And a side question, why is any single act of God typically worse than any single act of the devil?
I should state, I know that usually things that are unknown are considered acts of god, but even things that are known, that we know how and where they came from, like the 2005 Indian tsunami, are still considered acts of God and I suppose I was trying to touch on that really.

Whatever the insurance company or your neighbor thinks they can screw you out of.
I actually won a court case in Small Claims against someone when debris from their roof damaged my car. Their defense was "it was an Act of God". My response was "Okay, ask God to come in and testify".
Judge awarded me full damages.

What was meant by an act God was that no humans are responsible and hence liable for damage caused due to such acts.t This term is still used extensively in Insurance of humans and properties(movable and immovable).Your interpretation and explanation are therefore not relevant except may be ,of being some academic interest.

All I know id God controls everything in this universe... He made he can do what he wants. The Devil has no power because he is created just like us. People don't ask for God's protection so when things like tornados or whatever happen... then they die. Same goes for people who don't want God int thier lives, they let the Devil in and give him power so people are Gay or sick outta nowhere. I can't really explain it... I hope this made alittle sense.

These disasters are from GOD .Ever hear of "southern decadence" the celebration held in New Orleans?Katrina hit the week end it was to take place.GOD showed them what HE thought of "southern decadence" ,as for the "good people there" they had sat by and allowed it to go on for decades and become worse with each passing yr.
That is one example.
The sunami in India where they have 85 million gods. There gods aren't looking too good now.

Anything that can't be explained.
Of course, all you have to do is study science long enough and you can explain almost anything. But your question had to do with people and their grotesquely incomplete understanding of the Cosmos.

Anything that a professional can not explain. .................. yet.
Example: Thunderstorms used to be considered an act of a god.. but then we found out why they really happened.
