22 and living my life... not exactly how I want to. Oh well, life online isn't so bad and I don't mind at least voicing my opinion on some things. Heh, maybe someone will like what I say. Since I find it utterly retarded and 'fake', I may lash out if I see a question that deals with texting in relationships.

  • Is there a way to prevent motion sickness on rides?

When I go to amusement parks, I get sick on stationary spinning rides... Things like tilt-a-whirls and even tea cups or even those spinning hanging chairs make me very nauseous. I've never thrown up from it, but I've gotten close. I was wondering if there's any way to prevent the nausea. I've heard taking motion sickness meds before hand can help, but I don't want the drowsiness side effect as that would suck for the rest of the day. So, anyone got any ideas?

The odd thing is that I'm fine when it comes to roller coasters. Just with stationary spinning rides I get really sick feeling.

  • Missing computer driver?

I have an Acer Aspire One netbook. To cut a long story short, I'm missing a non-plug and play driver. Because I'm missing this driver, my netbook can't connect to the internet. The driver I'm missing is a non plug and play driver called TCP/IP Protocol. I found the location of the driver in my i386 folder, and put it in my system32's driver folder, but that didn't do a thing. I guess in the end, how do I install this driver so I can connect to the internet? Anyone got any ideas?

  • how much would you pay for my car?

I have a 1996 Ford Windstar (minivan). It has 190K miles on it. I estimate it gets between 18 and 21 miles to the gallon. Runs rather well in the snow. It runs perfectly fine but has 3 problems.

The first is that the digital interface on the stereo is extremely dim. It can only be seen when direct light is on it or when it's night time. That one's a small thing.

The next problem is a bit bigger: One of the pistons only fires about half the time. What it needs to fix it apparently is a tune up (I've already tried a new spark plug but nothing). Once this gets fixed, the gas mileage will increase.

And the final problem is there's an oil leak. I'm not sure how bad it is but I do need to put oil in it fairly regularly. Would have had it fixed by now but like the tune up, I don't have the money for it.

Other than that it runs fine and just has a few very small cosmetic defects (slightly broken, but still perfectly working mirror and some small rust spots). New battery, new headlights, tranny is about a year and a half old, tires are 6 months old, brakes need new pads but I'm getting those soon.

I'm planning on selling it soon for something better and need a rough estimate of what I should sell it for and in my area, I've seen far worse sell for a couple thousand dollars. So how much would you pay for it as is?

  • What if both sides are right?

What if 100% irrefutable evidence was found that any god is real? He/she/they show themselves to the world and prove they are gods by doing miraculous acts that could be only described as divine. They even prove that they created all life on earth and that they could create worlds if they desired. Atheists, would you believe this being is a God then? Those religious, would you say this is your God?

Now, what if in reality they are not spiritual beings. What if they are actually sentient lifeforms with technology far beyond our own?

How would this affect those who are religious and those who aren't? Would say a Christian worship them if they proved to be the Christian God? Would an Atheist believe in them as a God if they proved themselves gods?

  • Can someone trick my router in to thinking their computer is one of mine?

I asked a few days ago about my laptop being connected to the internet despite it not being used and did get a good answer.

Pretty much, my router says my laptop is connected to the internet still. I had a password on my internet at the time, but under one user's suggestion, I changed my password which temporarily corrected the problem.

Well, today when I got home, i noticed that my internet was running slow, so i checked my router and there, again, it says my laptop has open sessions even though my laptop is completely off. It's like someone's tricking my router in to thinking that their computer is my laptop. I'm also thinking that maybe my laptop is a 'zombie' but have no idea how to figure that out.

I've disabled the internet on my laptop and have it completely off and even unplugged from the wall, yet still it says that my laptop is connected to the internet with 30-40+ sessions open.

My question is this: Can someone trick a router in to believe their computer is really my computer? And if so, anyone got a way to stop this? Also, as a precaution, is there any way to detect if my computer is indeed a zombie computer or not?

I could change the access key again, but to change it every 3-4 days because of this would be inconvenient as this Wifi is used by 3 computers and a video game console in my home and to constantly change it on every thing would be a hassle.

Tonight I'll install Avira and Avast on that computer, but as it stands, the main reason I don't have certain types of anti-virus software on that laptop is because it's a netbook, unfortunately. It's processing power is rather low and using most anti-virus software heats that thing up to near burning temperatures...

  • Why is my laptop still connected to the internet?

On my router, when something is using the internet, it shows how many open sessions there are. Typically I find there to be between 10 and 30 open sessions when I'm using the internet to browse, look at movies, and whatever else. I know computers stay connected to the internet when off, but very minimally.

My laptop is off right now. I disabled the wireless internet on it before I turned it off as well. According to my router, it says my laptop has 70 to 80 open session currently. Usually only goes that high when I start using torrent software. Turned off, a computer doesn't use many more than 5 open sessions.

My questions is this: Why does it say my laptop connected with the internet with over 70 open sessions even though it is turned off? Is it possible someone's bouncing off my laptop's signal to connect to my internet? If they are, how can I fix that so they aren't?

  • Is this an okay way to get rid of viruses?

The past 3 or 4 times I've gotten a virus, they've always been those ones that block the user from using anything helpful such as anti-virus software, System Restore, sometimes even the internet.

Well, I figured out that I could just start my computer in safe mode that way it wouldn't load the virus upon boot, and that I could also gain access to the stem restore feature. So, I system restore to a few days prior to getting the virus and it's completely gone.

It isn't picked up by my antivirus and it doesn't pop back up so i figure it's a decent way to get rid of such viruses. Typically after I use this method, I use Advanced System Care to clean up my registry where such viruses like to attach themselves so I believe no traces are left.

My question is: Are there any problems with getting rid of a virus that way? Like will it permanently damage my comp or something?

  • I'm very conflicted. What would you do?

I just want some opinions. It's a bit of a read, but your opinions would really help a person who is terribly conflicted.

What would you do in this case:

You're a shy person and you don't really get out enough and to top it off, you do have a couple social anxiety issues, so your social life as it stands sucks. Well, recently you've been getting lonely and wanting companionship, namely of the opposite sex. In other words, you want a boyfriend/girlfriend.

Well, time passes and you get frustrated and terribly stressed because you sit around and don't actively pursue anyone due to your anxieties but as luck would have it, you meet someone. The catch is, you meet them online and they live 1200 miles away.

You hit it off and in the end want to meet and be with each other but can't due to several variables. One such variable is money; neither of you have much of it and that what you do have is needed to pay off bills or just get by living on. Another variable is that even if you had the money, you have obligations that force you to stay where you are. Their obligation is schooling with their course of study only being offered at their school, and yours is house sitting indefinitely with animals that you have to watch.

At first, you're fine with the way things are but after a fairly long amount of time, it's not enough. You want something that's real and physical, not just emotional. You want to meet them, but know at most you and they would only be with each other for a couple weeks, if that, and you know that would never be enough. But you also believe strongly, that some day soon, you will meet, and that you may start dating them if things worked out. Online and long distance relationships don't work according to either of your beliefs as well.

These such thoughts kind of haunt you because you don't know the future, and don't know if or when you'll meet and the building frustration of no significant other stresses you continuously.

So it comes down to the following questions: First: Do you live with your stress, frustration and loneliness in chances that you'll meet or do you throw away what you have with the person you met online and risk being completely alone due to your social problems on top of knowingly crushing their heart? Second: If you decide to stick with the person, then would you risk everything, both your own life and meager, but secure financial stability just to move to their area, or just to visit them a few times? Third: Do you try and overcome your social anxieties and date anyways outside of their (your internet love interest's) knowledge? Fourth: Do you still date even if you feel it would be cheating on your internet love interest, or if you know it would hurt them to find out, or if you do meet, risk losing them due to you being in a relationship with someone else? Fifth: Why did you choose what you chose for your answers?

Thanks for reading it and leaving your opinion (if you did).

  • Does this violate any laws?

Now, I know there's FCC laws that prevent solicitations from toll free numbers before 8am or after 9pm. My question is if that law extends in to say religious groups. And to be more specific, if it allows fronts of the religious group to do the same.

Here's the story: A while back, a religious group was trying to recruit my friend. At the time, permission was given to that group to call after 9 pm since that's when he was available. Well for a while, they called nonstop and after about a month of failed attempts at recruiting my friend, they stopped calling.

Fast forward to now: My friend gets a call from a group of people who want to hire him, after 9pm. He hung up on them three times yet they called back each time until he finally talked to them. The people who want to hire him, it turns out, are just a front for the religious group who were trying to recruit him. So in other words, they're using a round-a-bout method to try and get him in to their group.

Now I know he gave consent to the first people, so that doesn't break any laws, but since they called under a different name and he did not give consent to those people to call after 9pm, does that make it illegal under FCC codes or any law?

  • Oil problems on my minivan?

The oil light on my cars is on. It's a 1996 Ford Windstar 3.8 liter. Anyways, I know something's up with my car I just don't know what. As I said, the oil light is on, but when I check the oil it's at the proper levels.

Now, when it runs, it makes a very audible sound kinda like a belt flapping (no it's not a loose belt) that comes from where the engine is. It's like the oil is just not running through the system. I know that's not the most descriptive thing when it comes to what the problem is, but I wonder if anyone would have any ideas on what I should do.

I've been told that a new air filter would fix it up so I'll try that since I need a new one anyway, but I was also thinking maybe the oil pump was out.

So yeah, any suggestions on what I should do? Preferably I'd like it if it's something I could do at my house, but I'll take it in to a mechanic if need to be.

  • About Christianity...?

I'm not trying to start anything here, but I have a question relating to the bible. Also, I'm sorry if these are redundant.

When the original bible was finally being compiled in to the books it is today, the church gathered all religions scripture based on Jesus and God at the time. Out of the so very many scriptures they found, they placed all the ones they deemed 'relevant' and organized them in to the bible. the rest were ordered destroyed as they were said to be blasphemous.

Remnants of these books have been found in recent years, remnants of books entitled things like "The Gospel of Mary" as well as several gospels based on Jesus' childhood, that time between when he was a teen and an adult, and one written by his siblings. (Half brothers and sisters)

There was a book entitled "The Gospel of Judas". Be it blasphemy or not, if they were the real words of Judas, according to him, Jesus told Judas to betray him. Told Judas that he'd become a hated person because of it, but in doing so he would help Jesus become a martyr and (I believe) would hold a seat in heaven for doing so.

My first question is this.. Why get rid of these books? Why get rid of some of them when they would show further insight in to what one of the most important men in the religion was all about?

The second one is this: For the Christians, if the book of Judas was real, and I'm not saying it is, but if it was, how do you think your perception of Jesus would change?

  • What annoys you most about Christmas?

As it ask, what annoys you the most about Christmas?

For me it would have to be the repetitive songs, the hypocritical nature of a fair amount of people (The preach being good and stuff but if there's only one iPod left at that store, and someone else gets it, it's on), or the fact that it's become so commercialized that it has to be advertised starting in September at times.

  • Any ideas fot a self destructive habit?

I need something, anything that's a self destructive habit or hobby right now. I need something to distract myself from my own frustrations. My only limitations are that this habit being something i can stop whenever, one that doesn't injure myself or anyone, and one that doesn't involve things that are social (since that's where my frustrations lay right now).

    Anyone got any ideas?

  • How do I increase clock speed?

Before I get started, I do not, and I repeat DO NOT want to over clock my computer, but increase its clocking speed.

Okay, with that out of the way. I have an old laptop, Dell Precision M50. Now, according to it, my computer can run up to 2.2 Ghz. According to several programs, my max clock speed on my computer is 1196 Mhz.

The problem is those same programs say my current clock speed is only 645 Mhz. How do I increase the clock speed on my laptop to get at least closer to the max clock speed?

I checked the BIOS page where I'd figure it would be at, but there's nothing there at all other than setting my PC to max performance which does nothing to change the current clock speed. Anyone know of any programs or how I can increase my clock speed?

  • What defines an act of god?

I'm not trolling, just really curious.

What does define an act of God? A hurricane or other natural disaster would be considered and act of god, yet something as simple as a bad moral code is considered something from the devil. You never really hear about say a flood or a volcano being an act of Satan, who's suppose to be evil and whatnot. Personally, I'd think the deaths of 200,000 people by an act of god is a lot worse than one person being gay, or another stealing or cheating by an act of the devil. Hell, one person being murdered by an act of the devil is still a lot better than any number of people being killed by an act of God since most acts of God go well in to the hundreds and thousands in terms of death tolls.

So again I ask, what exactly defines an act of God, and why? And a side question, why is any single act of God typically worse than any single act of the devil?
