New computer-new ISP - what is Windows Live Mail?
Sorry everyone, but I'm VERY technically backwards.
I just bought a new laptop (my first experience with Windows 7) and also had wireless run into the house. With the wireless service, I have a free email account.
Except now when I click on a link on a website to send an email, I keep getting something called Windows Live Email popping up.
What is this? Do I need it? Is there some way to turn it off? Or should I be using this as my email?
Any help for this poor old lady would be very much appreciated :-) !!
Thanks

Windows Live Mail was rolled out as a replacement for Outlook Express, which is actually a part of Internet Explorer. Don't try to delete the program as it would probably corrupt some your operating system files.
Chances are that your default email listed in your web browser is Windows Live Mail. You can change your default email by going to Tools, Internet Options, Programs tab in Internet Explorer. After you make any changes, you need to click Apply, then OK.

"Check your computer for low memory or low disk space and try again." How much RAM and hard disk free space do you have? "Although my computer is running perfectly and i have plenty of space." That is NOT true, or Windows wouldn't be showing you the Error Message. "Since i changed my ISP, my windows live mail isnt working" Check your WLM settings, when you change ISPs, the incoming (POP) and outgoing (SMTP) servers must be changed. Call your ISP for more info.

This is Microsoft's default mail handler; it replaced the old Outlook Express. I use it myself.
It actually works pretty well, If you want to use it, you need to enter the pertinent details of the email account from your wireless service in the Accounts section (server names, port numbers if needed, user ID, and password if desired. WLM will then fetch your mail on a regular basis and send out anything you write, be it from a Web page or from its own composition box.

Windows Live E-mail is a Microsoft piece of software similar to outlook, it wants to manage all of you E-mail account(s). If you wanted to start using this piece of software for your E-mail then I would be able to give you the settings on how to set it up if you can tell me whom you send/receive mail from.
Whom do you use for your E-mail?
Yahoo, MSN, Charter, Comcast, ETC? This will give us a better idea on how to direct you to fix your issue.
