i need to know if i can connect my xbox 360 to my computer and use it to connect to my router even though my computer is connected wifi?

You can use your computer's internet connection to connect the Xbox to Xbox Live as long as the computer is close enough to the Xbox for the ethernet cable to reach and as long as the computer itself is connected to the internet.
