I'm looking for a short story about an older woman, young man, and young woman on a bus, in mag. 20-30 yrs ago?

This is a stretch, but I've found some pretty amazing answers on here before. It is a short story in a magazine, I think Good Housekeeping, about a young man who is admiring an older woman's beauty on a bus. Then a younger woman gets on the bus, who's gorgeous. But the young man keeps his attention on the older woman, to honor her. She says thank you or something when she leaves the bus.
