How can you permanently delete information off a computer without reformatting the hard drive?
I have a work computer that I was allowed to use for personal use and want to remove all of my personal info before I turn it in. Is there a way to remove it without reformatting or affecting the OS on it but making sure the deleted files cannot be recovered at all with programs etc.

.What you need is a file deletion programme, in essence all this does is write a random sequence of 1s and 0s to the disc completely eradicating all files. Go to this link where you can get free downloads and more information. . http://www.thefreecountry.com/security/

It is impossible. If u not format the hard disk the file may be in the history. That is difficult to find the correct name in the history even though you run your regedit. The best way is to format coz I believe u don't want to make ur Os becomes corrupt.

Once you remove everything, Ccleaner.com has a wipe free space, set it for 35 passes.. That ought to do it. ~

unless you held down SHIFT while hitting the delete key you more then likely just told windows to move everything to the recycle bin, empty the recycle bin then check the size info.
