Is there a way to permanently delete file from a computer?
I have a work laptop that when I quit will have to be turned in. I want to delete contact files, internet files etc of information I don't want them to have. Is there a way to safe guard this info from them recovering it with programs? I can't format the drive but can delete data..... Any help would be appreciated..............

When you erase data or do a quick format, the data is still stored on the drive. The program just marks the file allocation table to tell the computer that the disk space is available to be reused. But if the area isn't rewritten, you data is still there.
A program like Sure Delete will rewrite the deleted areas of your drive many times with random data so the original data cannot be recovered. It's free.

Since you're quiting the job who cares if you format the drive? In fact if you want to make sure your data is deleted download Cute Partition Manager at the link below and delete the drive's partition.
That's what I would do...
