Yellow lights flying through the sky... 00:10 new years day 2010?
After celebrating the start of 2010 me and my mom were going up to bed... when my mom called me into her room to come look at something. when i got there, there were two orange lights flying across the sky. once these had disappeared out of sight another came... in total we counted 13 lights. many may say they were just fireworks but i can say for sure they were not... neither were they planes as the light was constant and no engine noises were herd. we watched these lights from around 00:10 to 00:30 when they appeared to have stopped. i live in Hednesford Staffordshire and have read similar questions from last year answered on here... i just wondered if any one else had seen these lights
replies much appreciated

We saw them between midnight and 1 a.m. in the north-west of England, but they were orange. I found out that there was a big party in a nearby village up-wind of us and they had chinese lanterns. However, there's more to this than meets the eye! Check out this link from an article in the Daily Mail about these sightings back in May:

I live in central Scotland and looked out of the bedroom window a few minutes after midnight as people close by were having a big fireworks display, which I could see over the roof-tops. I was looking due north. Yet although the fireworks were brilliant, my eye kept being drawn to the north east, just an (apparently) short distance to the right of the display, on a level with the fireworks (so, low down in the night sky). There was a round orange object pursuing a slightly curved, upwards trajectory, to the right. I also saw another tiny light, like it, but not orange, a bit higher up. It hardly seemed to be moving, though.
No way could the orange light be a Chinese lantern, given the distance it was at, and the speed it was moving at, and the slightly curved trajectory! A Chinese lantern would have ambled slowly upwards (for there was no wind). What I saw had momentum and it was pursuing a course. I thought it could be a satellite. Never in a million years was it anything to do with laser beams! I've seen those. There's no mistaking them!

Located in Southern California, perhaps not far from the Mexico line, San Diego could be the oldest town in California, created in 1769 and if you want to know an area with an enchanting normal splendor and a nice weather, with slight conditions and plenty of sunshine with hotelbye you need to start. In San Diego you are able to visit: museums, gardens, Spanish Colonial type structure present in Balboa Park, the world popular San Diego Zoo, and the Midway Aircraft Carrier Museum. SeaWorld San Diego is among the city's principal attractions, especially for families. It is located along the waterfront in Mission Bay. For a lot of American's SeaWorld has been quite a long time family convention, having been around considering that the 1960s. Among the shows would be the variety of shows offering killer whales, sea lions, dolphins, and different sea life. You will find all sorts of tours from roller coasters crashing in to water, to more sedate carnival type flights for tots. SeaWorld is an aquarium that enables for close-up looks at sharks and different sea animals that may be observed through an acrylic tunnel, along side feel tanks, and close encounters with dolphins and inhabitants of tidal pools.

I saw these objects too. I live on Ladies Estate, Thetford. To the south I saw hundreds of orange lights flying east to west. And above my house several flew above. They were like bright orange flares but flew more like a plane and were silent.. At one point two appeared at once. the one behind caught the one in front up and they both continued heading in a south westerly direction. All these lights seemed to be going in the direction of RAF Lakenheath/Mildenhall. The lights to the south may well be Chinese lanterns but the lights above my house was most certainly not!

Chinese lanterns. New Years eve/morning and fireworks and lanterns. Before people say they cannot move like that, how many have people watched? The wind moves a different speeds at different heights. I have worked on various tall buildings and masts to witness this.
Consider also the angle at which you observe it and the direction it is going, chuck in the darkness and you have a very confusing object for the human eye and brain to work on. Darkness is not intended for the human eye which works best in the daylight.

Cardiff Wales New Years Eve 12.15 to 12.40 a.m.
Three of us were out the front lighting off fireworks when we saw the same orange lights we saw on Christmas night.
There was a procession of them one after the other about 20 travelling about 300 mph 1000ft agl from east to west approx following the M4 corridor along the south wales coast.
No sounds or flashing lights so most definatley not aircraft and impossible to be Chinese lanterns! Many other people I spoke to today said they saw them and we got it on video and photos. I think I saw the underside of one which flew close by and it appeared flat and circular but i m not sure.

I encountered a similar sighting last night right after midnight, although I live in San Diego, Ca, not the UK. I asked a question about it. Two people in a city about 10 miles away spotted the same thing. Similar sightings occurred last night in Florida, USA and Glasgow, UK.
