Military related question.?
I am in training right now to join the Army. I got an 88 on my ASVAB and my recruiter tells me that the only thing keeping me back is my BMI. Unfortunately it was kinda high(not too bad, but still too high). So I am preparing to enlist in about 1-2 months.
I am planning to enlist as 19D Cavalry Scout. How is this MOS? I was thinking infantry, but I don't want to risk being assigned as a mortarman.
If I wanted to enlist as infantry is there any way I could sway myself towards rifleman?

From what some of my 19D buddies told me, it's a pretty fun MOS if it's what you want to do. Of course, everybody is going to have their own personal opinion on it. As for your weight, I hope your recruiter gave you a diet plan to help you. Just stay determined and watch your meals and you should be in soon.
As for the people saying he can join but we'll send him to "fat camp," it doesn't work that way. Either you make BMI or you don't join. We got rid of the ARMS test in the Army, so no more letting people who are over join in hopes of them loosing the weight in basic. We alreaady have a slightly reduced standard for people who are enlisting and they have to meet the Army standard by the end of AIT.

don't they have fat camp ? not trying to be mean or funny . i'm serious . like if you're overweight , you'll go there before basic training to lose the weight . and for the rifleman part , you should just show them how well you shoot .

If you want to be a rifleman, you have to prove to them that you're really good at the whole gun shooting thing.

Its not eve worth worrying about.
Its not like there are very many 11c's out there, compared to 11b's.
But if your fat, your gonna have so much fun in infantry OSUT
