#1. Look at Venus. About the same size as earth but a lot hotter. Why? It has an atmosphere that is very high in CO2. 97% in fact. Totally incompatible with life as we know it. Its surface temperature is in excess of 800 degrees F. It is believed that the high temperature is a direct result of the high CO2 and the "greenhouse effect."

#2. On earth for millions of years plants and animals died and were buried in mass. Some got turned into coal, some got turned into oil, some became natural gas. That was a lot of CO2 tied up in those substances. But for the most part we had a balance between plant production of oxygen and the production of CO2 by the animal life.

#3. There is no doubt the CO2 level is rising now. There are three factors for that. First and the most obvious, we are digging up petrochemicals and burning them, adding all that stored CO2 to the atmosphere. Second, we are cutting down forests at a very high rate and we are also literally killing off parts of the ocean. (Read up on "dead zones" in the oceans.) We are reducing the plant life so they are converting less CO2 into oxygen. And third, we ourselves are over populating the earth. (This may be "compensated" somewhat due to the fact that we are also killing off animal life at a very high rate.)

Bottom line, the rise of CO2 is noted and well documented. Also the slow rise in global temperature is also noted. But does the rising CO2 cause the rise in Temperature? That I think is where the whole global warming debate falls down. I do not think they have proved the rising CO2 and other greenhouse gases are the cause of the temperature rise.

And one interesting thing, is there may be a whopper of a "Mother Nature" correction to this coming up. One group of scientists think that as the Arctic ice melts, the Atlantic Conveyor will shut down. That will divert the Gulf Stream way to the south and Europe may suddenly find itself in an ice age. On the flip side, North Africa will get a lot more rain and become a productive farm area once again. Some evidence of this is the fact that the glaciers of Norway are expanding in size meaning they are getting more snow and/or less summer melting.

Then there is the real paranoid way to view it. Global Warming is God's way of preparing us for Nuclear Winter.

It's not global warming anymore--now, it's climate change. (pffffft) I believe natural climate change has always occurred. I do not believe the b.s. that Gore and members of Congress who want to tax us for merely breathing are spewing. It is a redistribution of wealth scheme. Also, people seem to be confused as to what redistribution of wealth really is. It sounds all warm and fuzzy--but oh--it's not. It takes from some, hands to others, levels us all to the same poverty line while giving the excess to our "leaders" who will never live under what they mandate what we do. Dictatorship and tyranny.
