Using your can horn in circumstances other than an emergency can result in a fine and loss of demerit points on your license. This may be a normal thing in Chennai, I don't know, but they are just impatient. When you think logically as soon as the lights change everyone should be able to take off at the same speed at the same time. It doesn't happen that way. They are just impatient and arrogant. Road rage!!!!

How to stop it happening. Carry a crowbar in your car and when it happens stop, get out of your car and let loose on the front windscreen of the jerk who cant spare 10 seconds of his day.

Absolutely nonsense to blow the horn. They feel that blowing horn traffic will be cleared. Nothing happens. On the contrary someone mathafiru ( shrude person)will hit the horn blower.

This is a matter of discipline. I have seen in USA that blowing horn is forbidden by law if unnecessarily blown without any reason.

Recently at Mumbai air port some one was overtaking the front car. Front car owner requested the back car owner not to overtake. However he did not listen and caught the owner of front car owner. He was caught severely and dragged the front car owner on the road. The front car owner was seriously injured and died on the road.
