Have you had the swine flu vaccine?

I have been invited to have the swine flu vaccine next week and I was wondering about side effects.

Have you had the vaccine? and how did you feel after it? I am in my 60's with a low immune system so I am told I should have the injection to avoid the swine flu.

    I'm 22, have no spleen and a low immune system also. I got two doses of the swine flu vaccine and felt fine after both doses. My father also has no spleen, he's in his sixties and he also had two doses and had no side effects either. When you go into the clinic they will give you a list of the side effects which include nausea, runny nose, headaches. After your vaccine they make you wait in an area for 15 minutes to make sure you are O.K to leave. Hope this helps.

    I haven't although I am an healthy 19 year old

    although I would strongly suggest you get it, considering that you are in your 60s you are more at risk of getting the serious complications (even death) when you are infected

    the side effects that MAY accompany with the vaccine will out-weigh from the problems you will get with the virus

    the chances are that you already have had a flu jab (any vaccine in fact) in the past and it is no different from the H1N1 jab

    again you may or may not get any side effects at all

    -----------------------------------

    Mild problems:

    * soreness, redness, tenderness, or swelling where the shot was given

    * fainting (mainly adolescents)

    * headache, muscle aches

    * fever

    * nausea

    If these problems occur, they usually begin soon after the shot and last 1-2 days.

    Severe problems:

    * Life-threatening allergic reactions to vaccines are very rare. If they do occur, it is usually within a few minutes to a few hours after the shot.

    * In 1976, a certain type of swine flu vaccine was associated with cases of Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS). Since then, flu vaccines have not been clearly linked to GBS.

    As a diabetic I was offered the jag and also the flu jag but I refused them both, my partner also a diabetic had both jags with no side effects but, we are 48 and 53 years old and as you are in your 60's you should remember the swine flu of 1976 and the following year 70,000 people were vaccinated but 50,000 people died? I have a good immune system and I have never had the flu, a basic cold occasionally and I have been off work once with an illness. My daughter aged 30 was offered it because of asthma but again refused it because it is cultured on eggs and she has an egg allergy and they offered an alternative swine flu jag but on researching where it came from she found it is from african monkeys and most of the monkeys are HIV+ Only you can decide what to do?

    My husband and I (both in our 50's) had the H1N1 and seasonal flu vaccines at the same time on Nov 20th. I had a sore arm for 3 days, and hubby's was sore for under 24 hours. No other problems.

    No! I think it is very strange that the Government is pushing this vaccine. Look what happened in 1976! I have never had a flu shot and never plan on having ANY kind of flu shot. I am healthy enough to survive the flu. If all you mice want to follow the pied piper then go ahead!

    Take the excellent evidence based advice you have been offered and have the vaccine. Personally other than a little local soreness, which affects about 10% of people, I was fine.

    My wife had it as she is Asthma vulnerable. She had a sore arm afterwards and flu-like symptoms for the rest of the day, but this is normal and the effects didn't last long.

    My husband and I are 58 we have had the normal flu jab but we decided not to have swine flu as we don't think they know enough about the vaccine or the swine flu itself.But that is only our opinion

    I got both the H1N1 & the regular flue shot to. I got a sore arm from the H1N1 shot & that's it. I got no side effects from the regular flue shot!

    I have and I fully support them as although they can give you cold symptoms, the risk is greater for me without having one.

    It is worth it in the long run.
