How much does it cost to change a manual transmission to an automatic transmission on a 200 ford ranger?

Found a perfect car for a perfect price but i want automatic, and it's manual, so I'm wondering how much will it cost for a mechanic to change a manual transmission to an automatic transmission on a 2000 ford ranger.

As already posted above, not only the transmission itself, but the PCM, wiring, pedal assembly and radiator would also require replacement. And those are only the KNOWN parts that would need to be replaced. By the time all is said and done, it will probably cost far more that what the existing asking price of the truck itself is. There isn't a very big demand for manual transmission equipped vehicles in general, which is probably why this vehicle is the "perfect price" to begin with. Save yourself a HUGE headache, and just find yourself an automatic transmission equipped vehicle that better meets your desires and needs. Hope this helps.

I would guess at least $4000. Not only do you have to install a new auto transmission, you will need a new shifter ans linkage, you will have to install a transmission fluid cooler and run lines to it, and also change the drive shaft!

From a long time motor-head, do yourself a favor, do not try this! Go find a nice Ranger with an automatic transmission and save yourself a huge headache.

Don't even think of going down this road.It will cost a lot more than it would cost to get a really nice auto from the start. There is too much involved to change a manual trans. to auto

It means you have to change everything. About $5,000 for someone to do it correctly.
