Laminate flooring vs dog urine?

we had our carpet taken out and Armstrong laminate flooring put down.

There were two tiny areas on the corner of a few of the slats that looked defective, starting to peel up. we pointed it out to the installer (he was already finished) and he said it would be a major job to re-do those slats since he'd have to remove all previous slats.

Since then, (we have dogs) we've had several places where dogs have peed on the corners of dressers and the slats are totally warping or peeling.

I DO mop my floors daily - sometimes twice but until I move the heavy furniture, I don't see the pee that's underneath.

Then where our living room and dining room divides, if my husband is walking on it, the one entire laminate slat sags about 1/8 inch!

How much moisture can laminate withstand if properly installed? I know for a fact this installer doe NOT use enough glue.

can these damaged sections be removed and replaced?

It can't stand liquids sitting on it, and the installation has nothing at all to do with that. It's in the nature of the product. If it has a chance to absorb liquid, then laminate will start to delaminate. I've had a glued floor and one without glue. Both couldn't stand being wet. If you are mopping with a wet mop, you may be compounding the problem. This is why I've given up on laminate and have now gone to vinyl planks which are water resistant to a high degree and much easier to look after. If you have pets that pee on the floor, vinyl is about the best you can do. Yes, you can remove the damaged laminate sections if they are snap together though you must remove the floor up to the damaged pieces and then re-install it. I don't know what can be done about a damaged glued laminate floor.

you get what you pay for. a better laminate hot up fairly well to water and wear. but if yours is not holding up to the moisture you should not mop so often. use the wet swifter.

Laminate should not be glued at all. it is a floating floor.

laminate does sag when you walk on it it looks right but its all in the design. there is a pad under the flooring that compresses. if your floor has a little dip in it shows even more.

firstly, your question made me laugh:)

i have laminate flooring too and it does peel in the kitchen under the sink. don't think moisture is too good for it no matter how it was installed. i'm dying for hardwood floors.
