What Kind of Dancing Is This?
It's from 1:09 until 1:12 and at 1:24 in the background of this clip (link below). Its like what junior prom kids would do.
Is it swing, waltz, box-step?

I watched the video. The first couple did an inside turn into a 'cradle' hold. This move is done in swing, salsa, hustle, two-step, etc. The other couple - the man was putting the woman into a series of inside turns. When the film showed the camera moving away from the room to the outside - the couple was doing of 'changing places'. A lot of these dance moves are given different names depending on the dance. The couples did not look like trained ballroom dancers. They looked like beginners in ballroom dancing. To answer your question 'what dance was it?' - they did not look like they knew what they were doing.
If you are interested in ballroom dancing, you can get some dance DVDs from www.dancevision.com A combination of group dance lessons and DVDs work the best.

This is easy. They were doing a jive, which is a triple step swing. Waltz is much slower and more graceful, and box step is not an actual dance. A lot of the moves that they were doing, for example the cradle, are done in all forms of swing, especially the jitterbug. I do not think it is at all like what junior prom kids would do, it is much to fast and very tiring, I am working on a jive in my ballroom dance class. If you were looking for a junior prom dance, I would suggest Waltz or FoxTrot, which are slow, not too hard, beautiful dances.

It needs to be Samba...Move it, shake it and thrill you with all ahaaa...Dance at the beat...Sounds so movement...quick and speed in a synchronized approach...Both dancing at the beats of drums and bazz...And counting numbers on Mambo quantity 5... With the whole ball room jst gaizing on us...and also you and me worried with every different and misplaced in tune...And flowing with the rythm...and ignoring the relaxation..All I consider the motion of your eyes and flashing among every others eyes... Rubbling, Bubbling and cuddling every others frame...Thats how it needs to be...And Dance Like Dirty Dancing:)
