Can I get some advice from artists please?
Okay, so I wanted to start painting with acrylics. I did one picture the other day and it turned out okay. Well, today I started and completely messed it up. Like bad! Anyway, of course it's ruined. Should I paint it all white and start again? There's quite a bit of brown. I just don't wanna waste anymore more paint. Thanks to all who answer.

The great thing with acrylic paint is that it dries really fast and you can paint over what you've done. You don't have to paint the canvas white to start a new painting: the new colors will cover it completely.

Hi Rachael
If you are a bit inhibited about wasting expensive acrylic paint, try this.
Try and find a local painter and decorator and ask him or her for any cans of almost empty paints they are going to throw away, get as many colours as you can, or try match pots from your local diy store.
As for something to paint on, well again if you don't want to buy expensive canvas boards or stretched canvas. You could perhaps buy a roll of the heaviest grade of Decorators lining paper (1200) and bulldog clip it to a piece of hardboard. Once you've gained confidence handling these paints you can go back to 'real acrylics' if the pastel shades are too pale for your style get yourself some 'Childs paint' just the three primaries will do.
Hope this helps.
Regards Lawrence.
