If the files are .avi files encoded in DivX AND you have a DivX capable player you don't need to to anything other than to copy the file over to the DVD.

Otherwise you need DVD authoring software to re-encode the file in DVD compatible format. The software will also create the DVD structure that your player expects to find. Nero Express CANNOT do that, you need the full version of Nero, or you can use WinAvi, excellent program.

    What format are the files?

does the dvd player support avi/mpeg/mkv files?

i bet it doesn't support mkv's, so if you got any, you're gonna need to encode them...with is exactly what you're not meant to do.

Mkv's (Matroska Video Files) are on that exact format for a good reason, people rip things from dvd's and hddvds ,even bluray disks, and put it on that format because it's a great container with an astounding quality to size transformation.

if on the other hand, you downloaded a film on avi, and burned it onto a dvd disc, using the Data Dvd setting, and it doesn't work on your dvd player maybe you just need to stick with normal dvd's or go through an even longer process with your films...

i don't mean to sound rude here but your first problem is Lime wire.

If you are trying to copy movies, you first must RIP them with ripping software.

Next you need a burning software that will compress write and verify the burn. This will enable the larger files to fit on a standard 4.7gb disc.

Maxell for sure is good, but I would use DVD-R media it is the most widely used and recognized on players and computers.

There is a lot more to it then just clicking the burn button. If you are still confused GOOGLE is your friend aand pose it as a question

If you want to burn any movies to DVD, then can play well on home DVD player, you should use the right software to create/burn standard video DVD from your movies, don't use nero Express to burn data DVD, there is an easy way and the better choice, you can try RZ DVD Creator, it can create/burn standard video DVD from any movies, it can burn long movies into one DVD, it can burn multi movies into one DVD, it can auto fit the size, it can easy add professional dynamic DVD menu, it can convert and burn any movies to DVD(DVD+R, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, DVD-R DL, DVD+R DL, etc), such as avi to DVD, etc.

You can yahoo or google search and download "RZ DVD Creator", work well on my computer, easy to use, good quality, most functionality, hope it can help you.

you want us to also solve world hunger and over-population? Come-on ... ask a decent question! Do you get errors? What are they? Does the file play in something like Media Player Classic? Do you KNOW that the file is a valid video file? How do you know? Did you test it against a file validator (such as G-Spot?).

Try using DVDFlick to make the disks. It'll convert the files for you and compress them before burning. (It's open source and free.) http://sourceforge.net/projects/dvdflick/
