Do you agree that the healthcare bill would have no chance of passing if the following things were true:?

1) If Congress did what the majority of Americans want them to do

2) If Obama kept his promise and insisted that all healthcare negotiations are broadcast on CSPAN

3) If several Democrats hadn't sold their vote for something for their state?

Somewhat. The problem is too many senators are getting paid big bucks by lobbyist to block the health care reform. I think if both dems and cons work together. We could have had the best health care bill and made history. The insurance companies are keeping Americans in hostage. They can charge any rate and drop us for any reason. And the bigger problem is. The neocons are trying to destroy our President and want him to fail. Not one con voted for the health care reform and I know they have people in the district who needs health care. They are doing this for political gain and to hurt the president. They are the party of no and will do everything they can do undermine President Obama. Is President Obama the first politician to lie? No. Will he be the last? No. They all lie and when cons were in control they did the same dayum thing. Bush's Daddy lied when he said. Read my lips. No new taxes. Please don't try to act like neocons are holier than thou. There are crooks on both side of the isles. ><

The Repubs will perpetually tell lies to devide our u . s . a . collectively as shouting the "solidarity" slogans. They made up lies asserting that the reform invoice will kill the elderly and handicapped, collectively as preserving the income of a device that enables 18,000 human beings to die needlessly each twelve months! this is 6 ,,9-11s each twelve months! and why do they returned the liars, HATE BIGOTRY and HATE!

Considering that the US government is designed to prevent the tyranny of the majority (being a constitutional republic and all), I'll stop at your first premise. Not only because the will of the majority is not the central tenement of our government, but because the majority of Americans want health care reform.

What the Senate has passed is not reform, however. It is a despicable bill that will do nothing for American citizens.

    4) If the law was required to conform to the Constitution, without relying on the non-existent "elastic clause?"

Democrats are defending the unconstitutional aspects of the bill by citing the so-called "elastic clause."

Democrats are intentionally misinterrpreting the "Necessary and Proper" clause of the Constitution, pretending that it is an "elastic clause" that says Congress can ignore the Constitution any time they want to.

Ummm - what would be the point of having a Constitution in the first place if it contains a clause that nullifies the whole thing?

The "elastic clause" does not exist anywhere except in the fevered imaginations of Democrats who believe the Constitution is a self-nullifying document that does not apply to them.

Apparently they think the Constitution is something only for them to use against others, but they are exempt from it themselves.

No. Many Americans were for the health care until the hateful town meeting and neocons spreading lies about death panels. >0

    1. we would have a very different health care bill, if we passed the ones the majority of Americans wanted... and I think Republicans would like that one even less... but clearly, most of America wants something done

    2. who watches CSPAN? do you think people would actually start? seriously? you really don't know the American people at all... do you?

    3. this happens in almost every bill... Ted Stevens and Robert Byrd made carrers out of it... nothing would get done if no one bought any votes...

votes for the bill has only happened on the coat tail of deals....it would not pass with out these. the bill is merely a "front" for barely legal deals

The healthcare bill would also have no chance of passing if the Democrats had any interest in actually IMPROVING healthcare or reducing its cost.

    Complete agree, yes!

Obviously, but that would require transparency and following the will of the people. Two things politicals are not real good at.
